A man was shot to death at the Sugar Hill Tavern, a tiny liquor store in the 2300 block of Druid Hill Ave., about 5 p.m. yesterday, police said. A police spokeswoman said last night that the victim, who appeared to be in his 30s, had not been identified. He was shot in the head and was not robbed, the spokeswoman said, leading police to suspect that the victim was targeted by the shooter. Nobody at the store was willing to comment last night, and an unruly customer prevented a reporter from talking to employees.

Baltimore police are investigating the death of a 19-year-old West Baltimore man who was found shot once in the chest on North Payson Street late Friday night.Steven Louis Jupiter Jr. of the 1600 block of W. Mulberry St. was shot just after 11: 10 p.m. outside the 7-Eleven store in the 700 block of N. Payson St., police said.Jupiter was taken to Bon Secours Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, they said.Homicide detectives said they knewof no motives or suspects.

A man was fatally shot during an attempted robbery yesterday near Patterson Park in Southeast Baltimore. He was the city's 299th homicide victim this year, police said.Arthur E. Armel, 38, was walking near his home in the 100 block of N. Potomac St. about 1 a.m. when he was shot several times with a handgun, said Sgt. Scott Rowe, a police spokesman. Armel was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he died, Rowe said.Baltimore has had 300 homicides or more every year since 1990.

A man in his 20s was found shot to death yesterday afternoon in a Northwest Baltimore alley, city police reported.Homicide detectives said they had not confirmed the identity of the victim, and that they did not know whether he had been shot at the scene in the 2600 block of W. An unidentified man was shot to death yesterday in a house in Northwest Baltimore, police said.Officers responding to a report of a shooting entered the house in the 2800 block of W. Cold Spring Lane about 11: 45 a.m. and found a body in the living room. The man had been shot at least once, police said.Police said the victim, in his 20s, was not a resident of the house. A Baltimore man, 37, was shot and killed at 6: 16 p.m. during an apparent robbery in the 1000 block of Edmondson Ave., city police reported -- the 309th homicide of the year.The victim, whose identity was withheld pending notification of relatives, was found shot to death in an alley near Arlington Avenue, said Detective Gordon Carew. Two young men were found shot to death in apparently unrelated incidents in Baltimore early yesterday, city police reported.Sebastian Lamont Clowney, 23, of the 6100 block of Shipview Way, was found dead shortly before 7: 30 a.m. in the rear yard of a house in the 1500 block of Elrino St. in O'Donnell Heights.Detective Lynette Nevins said area residents heard shots at 2: 40 a.m., but police did not find anything amiss at the time.In the other incident, Detective Danny Danzie said officers were questioning a man seen firing a gun shortly past midnight near the 2700 block of Fenwick Ave., near Clifton Park.

Two people were found shot to death early yesterday in unrelated Baltimore slayings, police said.Homicide detectives arrested two suspects in one of the shootings, which occurred at 2: 15 a.m. in the 2300 block of Federal St. in East Baltimore. Police said they suspected robbery was the motive.Police said Gregory Peck McGraw, 25, of the 900 block of Patterson Park Ave. was fleeing two men when he was shot once in the back and collapsed. He was declared dead at the scene.Two men, both 20, were soon arrested, said Officer Angelique Cook-Hayes, a police spokeswoman.

The partially clothed body of an unidentified woman was found yesterday morning in a park in Baltimore's downtown Seton Hill neighborhood in one of two city homicides overnight.City police also were investigating the shooting death of a man walking home from work, and a pair of shootings that left four teen-agers hospitalized.The woman's body was found shortly before 7: 30 a.m. by a passer-by walking a dog through St. Mary's Park off the 600 block of N. Paca St., police said.The victim, described only as a black woman in her 30s, was lying face up near a wall on the east side of the park, and appeared to have suffered heavy blows to her head.

A woman was shot to death in the back yard of an East Baltimore rowhouse yesterday. Police said they were seeking a man known as "Scar" for questioning.Police said residents of a house in the 2300 block of E. Federal St. heard a gunshot about 1 p.m. The victim was identified as Danielle DuBose, 23, of the 1600 block of N. Milton Ave. She was shot in the shoulder and was pronounced dead at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, police said.In an unrelated incident, the man found shot to death Wednesday in a car parked in Leakin Park has been identified as Leonard M. Williams, 25, of the 6500 block of Falkirk Road.
