Griffiths earned a master of science degree from Drexel's College of Information Science and Technology. Finksburg resident Krystle Alder was among the 587 students at Shepherd University in West Virginia who were named to the dean's list for the spring semester.

Kasie von Briesen and Ryan Thomas Miller Frederick and Debora von Briesen, of Columbia, announce the marriage of their daughter, Kasie Carlotta von Briesen, to Ryan Thomas Miller, son of Steve and Michele Brock, who reside in Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. Gigie Sijera-Grant officiated at the ceremony held in First Lutheran Church, Ellicott City, on June 16, 2012. Johnny Funk and Sarah von Briesen were chosen as honor attendants. The couple attended Shepherd University together.

Bills would limit where sex offenders live Convicted sex offenders would be banned from living within 2,000 feet of schools, day care centers, parks and other areas where children congregate, under legislation introduced in the General Assembly recently by two Baltimore County delegates. Yesterday, in front of Sandy Plains Elementary School in Dundalk, Dels. John A. Olszewski Jr. and Eric M. Bromwell, both Democrats, said their proposal would not violate constitutional rights. "We have a duty to protect the citizens," Bromwell said.

Courtney Winn Faudree and Tyler Marion Hurd Mr. and Mrs. Eric M. Faudree, of Urbanna, Va. announce the engagement of their daughter, Courtney Winn Faudree, to Tyler Marion Hurd, son of Dr. and Mrs. Edwin M. Hurd Jr., of West Friendship. Faudree, a 2009 graduate of Roanoke College, is a project coordinator at The Martin Agency, in Richmond, Va. Hurd, a 2008 graduate of Roanoke College, is employed at The Faison School for Autism, also in Richmond. A May 2012 wedding in Urbanna is planned.

The League for People with Disabilities has a new director of Medical Day. Chuck L. Griffith develops and organizes a broad range of services that improve the quality of life of disabled adults. In addition, he manages the staff and volunteers who provide education, transportation and rehabilitation services. Griffith, who has 15 years of experience working in health care and adult-day services, formerly worked as Westminister's Active Day Medical Day Care center director. He is working on his master's in health care administration at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland.

Westminster quarterback Kevin Clancy, The Sun's All-Metro Offensive Player of the Year, signed a letter of intent yesterday to attend Division II Shepherd University in West Virginia. He will be joined there by teammate Ryan Payne, a first-team All-Carroll County wide receiver, who also signed with the Rams. Clancy completed 187 of 344 passes for 3,335 yards and 38 touchdowns, and rushed for another 15 scores. He helped the Owls (12-2) average 40 points during an eight-game winning streak and advance to the Class 3A state championship game.

Raymond R. Dalbke, a retired pharmaceutical salesman and World War II veteran, died of cardiac arrest Monday at his winter home in Green Valley, Ariz. The Forest Hill resident was 79. Mr. Dalbke was born and raised in Chicago, and after graduating from high school joined the Merchant Marine in 1943. He served in North Atlantic convoys aboard tankers transporting high-octane fuel to European Theater. After the war, he attended what is now Shepherd University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in 1949.

Robert B. Hardiman, a district manager for a Baltimore pest control company and an avid tennis player, died Friday at Johns Hopkins Hospital of heart failure resulting from sepsis. He was 63. Born in Baltimore and raised in Essex, Mr. Hardiman was a 1961 graduate of Kenwood High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in English in 1965 from what is now Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, W.Va. Drafted into the Army in 1965, Mr. Hardiman was assigned to Okinawa for two years in finance and accounting while a member of the Army tennis team.
