Each week, The Baltimore Sun publishes a Q&A with an area college lacrosse player to help you become more acquainted with the player and his/her team. Today's guest is Loyola defender Ashley Moulton, a fourth-year starter from Rochester, N.Y. A key component in a defense holding opponents to 9.45 goals per game, Moulton is preparing for the No. 20 Greyhounds' critical four-game road swing in Big East play beginning at undefeated and No. 5 Notre Dame on Friday night. An elementary education major, Moulton will return to Baltimore in the fall to complete her student teaching before following in the footsteps of her mother, Diane Moulton, working with autistic children.

Owen Blye and Zach Palmer might not have much sympathy for each other, but this season, they can empathize with one another. That's because the attackmen are laboring through underwhelming senior campaigns for Maryland and Johns Hopkins, respectively, and have been overshadowed by their teammates. But as Palmer leads the No. 15 Blue Jays (6-4) into Saturday's annual game with Blye and the No. 4 Terps (8-1) at Byrd Stadium in College Park, the duo can mutually agree that they are willing to sacrifice individual glory for team success.

The ruptured spleen that sidelined senior midfielder Ryan Clarke for the remainder of the season just five games into 2013 may have created a vacuum among Salisbury's stable of standout players. Fortunately, Eric Kluge has stepped in to fill the void. The senior midfielder leads the No. 6 Sea Gulls (12-3) in goals with 32 and points with 41, and he led all scorers with four goals in the team's 24-4 walloping of Wesley on Wednesday night. Joined by juniors Greg Korvin (11 goals and 10 assists)

Scott Jones scored a career-best six goals to propel UMBC to a 19-6 thrashing of Vermont last Saturday, marking the sixth consecutive game in which the senior attackman has scored at least two goals in a contest. Jones - who became the 30th player in school history to amass 100 career points (86 goals and 18 assists) - has been shut out just once this season and limited to just one goal, which also happened last season. Coach Don Zimmerman said Jones is expanding his game in his final year of eligibility with the Retrievers (4-6 overall and 1-1 in the America East)

The senior shortstop-outfielder led the Greyhounds (12-4) to a 4-1 record last week. Tilley came through offensively and defensively late in a dramatic 9-8 win over No. 14 Mount St. Joseph in the President's Cup semifinal game Saturday. He hit a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give the Greyhounds the lead and then helped end the game in the bottom of the frame when he turned a double play at shortstop. Tilley batted .436 in the five games, including two home runs, two doubles, eight RBIs, eight runs scored, two stolen bases and a sacrifice fly. Gilman also had wins over Georgetown Prep, McDonogh and St. Paul's early in the week before losing to Archbishop Spalding.

Maryland, which struggled to find the answer at point guard this season, will enter 2013-14 with a new starter at the position after the announcement that incumbent Pe'Shon Howard is transferring to another school for his senior year. Howard, a Californian who grew up immersed in celebrity culture as the grandson of a Los Angeles hair stylist, is likely to transfer to a school in California or close to it. His grandfather, Bill Howard, moved to Maryland to be with Pe'Shon Howard during his college years.

Thanks to Amy Carroll for her insensitive approach to denying the comforts of parks and the beauty of nature to the "grays," as she calls us senior citizens ("Mays Chapel residents sue county school board over land transaction," March 28). As for the schoolchildren, only a handful actually live in the immediate area. The majority will be bused in or driven to school by a parent. The added traffic, not to mention pollution, noise and otherwise, will only lead to the further deterioration of aging lungs.

Friday's editions included a Q&A with Towson fifth-year senior goalkeeper Andrew Wascavage. Due to space constraints, here are some more answers that didn't make the cut. Can you name an opposing player you've faced with one of the hardest shots to stop? [Attackman Mike] Sawyer from Loyola is pretty hard. And the guy from Hopkins last year who broke his collarbone [attackman Chris Boland]. Even though he shot from close range, he could bring it. Who is the slickest offensive player you've faced?
