Community pillars to mark Howard's 150th anniversary The Sesquicentennial Celebration will mark Howard County's 150th birthday with the Pillars of the Community Project. Fifty cylinders in various heights will be grouped by theme on public property throughout the county from July to July 2001. Participants are encouraged to decorate the pillars in a way that voices the hopes, wishes and memories of the county. Several workshops will be held to help participants with possible designs, which should reflect an aspect of the county's history.
