A Laurel man was being held without bail yesterday, charged with firing the bullet that strayed into Barbara Walker's home in Severn and wounded her and another woman.Astrel Jacques, 25, of the 14000 block of Chapel Cove Court was charged with assault with intent to murder and a handgun violation.Ms. Walker, 53, of the 8500 block of Pioneer Drive was released after treatment at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center. The bullet passed through her shoulder and struck a neighbor, Magdalene Davis, 38, in the head before it landed in a sofa.

Police charged a Gambrills man with battery Saturday after he and a fellow employee got into a fight at the horse farm where they work.Jacqueline Castrenze, who runs the farm in the 1300 block of Winner's Circle in Gambrills told police she asked one of her employees to feed her horses shortly after 4:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.The man had been drinking and refused, police said. Ms. Castrenze then asked another employee to feed the horses, and he complied, but the first man got angry and began to yell and curse at Ms. Castrenze, police said.

Police arrested a man Tuesday and charged him with stealing men's clothes and a microwave oven from the Ames department store in Pasadena.William Long, a security officer, told police he saw a man and a woman enter the store in the 8100 block of Ritchie Highway shortly before 5:30 p.m., pushing a shopping cart. The couple put several pieces of men's clothing in the cart, police said.When the cart was full, the couple was joined by a second man, and the trio pushed the cart near the jewelry counter and abandoned it, police said.

A man died after apparently jumping into the Inner Harbor on Friday, police and fire officials said. He was found by rescue divers near the 1400 block of Lancaster Street in the Harbor East area, said Baltimore Fire Department spokesman Kevin Cartwright. Rescue crews found the man in the water about 10 to 15 minutes after they arrived on the scene. He was unconscious, and attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful, Cartwright said. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was pronounced dead of drowning, hospital officials said.

County police are looking for a man who walked into a Valu-Food store in the 2600 block of Annapolis Road in Odenton Monday and stole two money orders worth $600.According to police, the man entered the store and asked for the money orders, one for $100, the other for $500, and the clerk printed them before the man paid her for them.When the clerk asked for payment, the man took out his wallet and then asked the clerk how to fill them out. As the clerk showed him the money orders and explained how to fill them out, the man snatched the money orders and fled.

A 36-year-old man was arrested after police said his inmate ID card was recovered from a crime scene. An 18-year-old Aberdeen man said he was traveling in the 700 block of E. Baltimore St. on March 1 when he noticed he was being followed by a red sedan carrying several men, police said. He told officers that the driver, who was wearing a mask, and a second man approached him from behind and pointed a gun at him. They searched his pockets and took $1,225 in cash, police said. During the robbery, the second man dropped an inmate identification card in the name of Jonathan Bell.

The following is compiled from Howard police reports. East Columbia Broken Land Parkway and Stevens Forest Road, 1:30 a.m. March 29. While stopped at a traffic light, the victim heard an unknown man knocking on the window of his vehicle. When the victim unlocked the vehicle door and opened it, the man produced a handgun and ordered the driver to the passenger seat. The victim attempted to exit via the passenger side door but was stopped by a second man and was then struck with the handgun by the first man, resulting in an injury to his face.

A 39-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the arm and back in an 11:15 p.m. shooting Friday in the Park Heights area, police said. Officers responded to the 5000 block of Palmer Avenue where they found the victim, who was listed in good condition at an area hospital Saturday, police spokesman Donny Moses said. Witnesses said they saw the victim arguing with a second man, who pulled a gun and opened fire, Moses said. No further information was available on the suspect or a motive.

Baltimore County Police are investigating a stabbing incident inside the Cow Palace at the Timonium Fairgrounds Saturday night. Officers were called to the Cow Palace building about 6:30 p.m. for reports of a stabbing. One man was stabbed in the head, suffering serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Police believe the incident began during the Maryland Oktoberfest event, which was scheduled to end at 6 p.m. A second man was suffered non-life-threatening injuries after he was stabbed in the arm. Police said a third man was taken into custody and is being held at the Cockeysville Precinct.

A double shooting on the city's west side Thursday evening sent two men to area hospitals. Police responded at 8:48 p.m. to reports of gunshots in the 3000 block of Belmont Ave., near Hilton Parkway. They found a 31-year-old man there suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He remains in critical condition, police said. A second man was located about a block away. He had been shot at least twice in the arm and leg, police said. The second victim's age and condition were not released.
