A Baltimore jury convicted a man Monday in the first-degree murder of a bystander who witnessed him hitting his wife, the Office of the State's Attorney announced. Anthony Cole, 30, was also found guilty of attempted first-degree murder for shooting at his wife, who escaped unharmed, and several weapons charges. According to prosecutors, Cole rode his bicycle to the 1900 block of Etting Street in the Druid Heights neighborhood on the evening of April 14, 2012, and confronted his estranged wife, hitting her in the face.

Baltimore County police charged a man with attempted first- and second-degree murder this week in the stabbing of two men who allegedly tried to jump him, the department announced on Friday. Dallus Newson, 18, of the 4400 block of Greenwich Court in Abingdon, was arrested Jan. 7 and is being held without bail, police said. Police said Newson fought with Brandon Victorian, 20, and Donte Smith, 19, after getting into a drug-related disagreement on Jan. 3 at about 7:30 p.m. in Perry Hall.

Maryland State police have charged David M. Montgomery with murder after a Westminster man was found dead early Saturday morning. Montgomery, 28, of no fixed address, was charged with first- and second-degree murder, and taken to the Carroll County Central Booking Center to await an appearance before a court commissioner. Edward C. Zepp, 61, was found dead on the back porch of his residence on the 100 block of West Main Street shortly after 4 a.m. with trauma to his neck. He was pronounced dead.

A 31-year-old Baltimore man has been charged in the killing of one man and the wounding of another in a hail of gunfire at a city intersection early Saturday morning, following a dispute at a night club, according to Baltimore police. Tion Bolden, of the 5200 block of Reisterstown Road in the city's Woodmere neighborhood, faces 10 charges in the case and remains in police custody. Police announced his arrest Sunday, after saying Saturday that they were questioning a person of interest.

A Baltimore jury convicted Marcus Satchell Thursday of second degree murder for shooting and killing a man in the Northwest Baltimore in 2010, after he mailed a confession to the victim's family, the State's Attorney's office said. Satchell, 35, picked up his victim - identified in Baltimore Sun records as Javon Perry, 27 - on July 17, 2010 and took him to Park Heights Avenue. They got in a fight and another person gave Satchell a handgun, prosecutors said. He fired four times, hitting Perry in the neck once, prosecutors said.

A 20-year-old man has been charged in the death of his infant son, police confirmed Wednesday. Police have accused Dion Ware of lying about the circumstances surrounding the death Monday of Kearri Dion Ware, who was born in October. Ware, of the 300 block of E. 22nd St., first told detectives that the boy was asleep and making strange noises, and that he realized he was not breathing and performed CPR before calling 911, according to charging documents. A doctor at Johns Hopkins Children's Center told detectives, however, that there were signs of bruising on the boy, as well as fractured ribs, the records show.

State Police said Sunday evening that they have arrested and charged a Carroll County man in connection with the shooting of his apparent girlfriend this morning. Maryland State Police investigators have charged William R. Brueckmann, 26, of the 6800 block of John Pickett Road, Woodbine, with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and felony gun charges. He is currently being held at the Carroll County Detention Center.

Two 18-year-old men have been arrested in the fatal shooting of another man in Pasadena early Saturday morning, Anne Arundel County police said Sunday. Ronald Lee McLeod, of Columbia, and Daniel Alex Savage, of Glen Burnie, have been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting of Matthew Morrow, 21, who died at an area hospital after being found with gunshot wounds in the 7000 block of Outing Avenue about 1:30 a.m. Another man — whom The Sun confirmed to be mixed martial arts fighter Darren Costa, 20 — was also found shot and was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

A 17-year-old Baltimore boy has been charged as an adult with attempted first-degree murder, among other charges, in the stabbing of a fellow student at Heritage High School on Monday, according to police. Darrell Johns, of the first block of North Potomac Street in the Patterson Park neighborhood, is being held without bond. A preliminary hearing in the case has been scheduled for Oct. 30. The student he allegedly stabbed, who has not been identified, was treated by a school nurse and taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital after the incident about 10:45 a.m. Monday, city school officials said in a statement released five hours after the stabbing.

Baltimore police have charged a 19-year-old man in connection with a shooting death earlier this year. Sgt. Anthony Smith said Saturday that Arthur Holt was arrested for first- and second-degree murder and related charges in the death of Tavon Whelchel, 18. Whelchel, of the 200 block of Pulaski St., died after he was shot several times in the torso on June 19 in the 2100 block of W. Pratt St. in Baltimore's Carrollton Ridge neighborhood....
