The Washington Mystics acquired forward Tianna Hawkins (Maryland) and guard Bria Hartley from the Seattle Storm in exchange for forward Crystal Langhorne (Maryland) on Monday, the day of the WNBA draft. Hawkins was taken sixth overall in the first round by the Storm last year. The 6-foot-3 forward played in 33 games, averaging 3.4 points and 1.6 rebounds. At Maryland, Hawkins led the Terps to the Sweet Sixteen and was named first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference in 2013.

WNBA Mystics' Thibault becomes winningest coach in league history Washington Mystics coach Mike Thibault became the winningest coach in WNBA with Saturday night's 62-59 win over the visiting Seattle Storm. Thibault surpassed Van Chancellor with his 212th career victory. The Mystics' win puts them back at .500 with a record of 6-6. Last season, Washington never reached the six-win mark, ending the season at 5-29. The Mystics moved into third place in the Eastern Conference — a half-game over the New York Liberty.

Et cetera Peyser, Kimmel star in Team Warrior's win Long Island Lizards midfielder Stephen Peyser (Johns Hopkins) scored the game-winning goal with 2:49 remaining in the fourth quarter as Team Warrior rallied to edge Team Authority by a 21-20 margin in front of an announced 11,186 at the Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game on Saturday night at Harvard Stadium in Cambridge, Mass. It marked the third straight year that the All-Star Game was decided by a single point.

Angel McCoughtry (St. Frances) scored a WNBA playoff record 42 points to help the host Atlanta Dream beat the New York Liberty, 105-93, on Tuesday night to complete an unlikely march to the league finals. Cappie Pondexter led New York with 36 points and nine assists. McCoughtry, the 2009 Rookie of the Year, surpassed the 41 points that Tamika Whitmore scored for the Indiana Fever in 2006 and her own previous career high of 34. Pondexter's 36 points are the third highest ever in a playoff game.
