First the Orioles. Now Loyola College. In a move that stung many Baltimoreans, the baseball team in the late 1970s stripped the city's name from its road-game uniforms to broaden its regional image. Now Loyola has dropped the name Baltimore from its official seal after 141 years. The new seal, which was unveiled last week, reads "Loyola College In Maryland," replacing a 1968 version that read "Loyola College Baltimore Maryland."A previous seal that dated to 1853, the year after the college was founded, also included the Baltimore name.

Q: I have weatherstripped my front and side doors, but there's a draft coming in underneath them. How can I seal out the drafts under the doors without having the seal rub on my carpet when opening the door?A: The threshold seal under a door is often neglected when weatherstripping. It receives the most abuse from opening and closing the door and from feet and objects being dragged over it. Just a small leak there can cause cold feet in the winter and can push up your utility bills year-round.

ZION, Ill. -- Zion has pulled a new civic slogan out of its pocke -- literally. The motto is straight off U.S. currency and coins: "In God We Trust."Although it is only a minor change from the old motto, "God Reigns," city officials in this northern corner of Illinois are banking that courts will find constitutional the phrase that soon will be emblazoned on their new city seal. The U.S. Supreme Court this summer ruled Zion's old seal, which included several religious symbols, an unconstitutional mix of church and state.

"Andre" is set in 1962, and if it weren't for the presence of a few modern faces, you'd think it was made in 1962.That's not really meant as a compliment. The movie seems to hail from the grand old days of movie hooie when all families were happy, all wives devoted, all children photogenic and all pets imbued with the saintly virtues of Thomas of Aquinas -- a kind of rosy gloss on reality that, as a value, has happily left film culture except for occasional retro appearances. In other words, it's "Lassie" with a seal.
