The Century boys basketball team (15-3) has won 11 straight games, and coach George Wunder says it's no coincidence that the streak began when point guard Brad Schuler was inserted into the starting lineup. The junior has made an impressive transition to varsity from junior varsity, bringing strong defense, court savvy and fierce competitiveness that has been infectious. He's averaging three points, two assists, two rebounds and a steal per game. During the spring, Schuler is plays defense on the Knights' lacrosse team.

Mary J. Schuler, a homemaker who in her youth danced on the stage of the Hippodrome Theatre, died of bladder cancer Aug. 24 at her Arnold home. She was 84. She was born Mary Jean Manlove in Cecilton and raised on Lafayette Avenue in Baltimore. She graduated from Western High School in 1939. From 1938 to 1940, she tap-danced in the Hippodrome chorus line in shows, including appearances by Betty Grable and Red Skelton, family members said. She was married in 1960 to Victor F.

Henry Gerard Schuler, 70, worked for printersHenry Gerard "Rod" Schuler, who worked for area printing companies for more than 50 years, died Tuesday of cancer at his Baltimore residence. He was 70.Services will be held at 9 a.m. today at Ruck-Towson Funeral Home, 1050 York Road.Mr. Schuler began his printing career after being discharged from the Navy during World War II.After working for several printing companies in California and Pennsylvania, he went to work in 1968 for French Bray Printing Co. in Glen Burnie, where he retired as vice-president of production a decade ago.He returned to work a few years ago as a salesman for Wilcox-Walter-Furlong Paper Co. in Savage, where he was employed at the time of his death.

There will be those who think Eric Schuler's victory over Robby Creese in Tuesday's Howard County boys cross country championship race was an upset. But don't put Schuler in that group. The Reservoir senior made his move past the midway mark on the Centennial course and pulled away. Schuler went on to score a surprisingly easy victory over River Hill's ScottĀ  Heydrick and Creese, who hadn't lost in-county since last fall. Creese won the county, regional and state titles last fall and every race this year until taking 10 t h at the recent Georgetown Prep meet.

The death last month of noted Baltimore artist Ann Didusch Schuler, who co-founded the Schuler School of Fine Arts with her husband, Hans C. Schuler, brought calls and e-mails from several former students who are now professional artists or teachers.

Ann Didusch Schuler, a noted Baltimore portrait painter and teacher who co-founded the Schuler School of Fine Arts, died Wednesday of heart failure at Gilchrist Hospice Care. She was 92. "Ann Didusch Schuler was a significant figure of the Baltimore art scene, and so many artists were influenced by her school and they loved her," artist Raoul Middleman said Thursday. "I'm a portrait painter, too, and I always respected her work. She was serious and took no shortcuts," Mr. Middleman said.

Joseph was born in Baltimore, MD, on January 1, 1927 to Joseph and Mary Schuler. he moved to Central Florida in 1991 from Maryland, where he had worked as a stainless steel maker. he was a member of St. Faustina Roman Catholic Parrish, Clermont, and had served in the U.S. Navy. Pasadena man robbed of $40 in Freetown VillageTwo men robbed a 26-year-old Pasadena man in Freetown Village Tuesday, county police said yesterday.According to the police, Kenneth Schuler of the 700 block of 203rd St. was walking in Freetown Village near Freetown Elementary School at 2:17 p.m. when he became lost and asked two men on mountain bikes for directions.One of the men, who said he had a gun, took $40 from Mr. Schuler, the police report said.
