Javier "Papo" Muniz, a musician with a degree in sociology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and Warren "Willy" Rosen, an artist and chef from Minneapolis, have teamed up to produce the Blazing Chile Bros. catalog.Based in Aptos, Santa Cruz County, they've assembled some 120 products, including Devil Drops, a rare sauce made from the datil pepper in St. Augustine, Fla.; Capital Punishment pepper sauce ("Once the bottle is opened, not even a call from the governor can save you")

The apartments called Tubman House on Towson Way are part of a new dorm complex for freshmen and sophomores at Towson University, and someone recently sent an occupant there 65 grams of marijuana. A townhouse on Randallstown's Kenny Green Court is a suburban cookie-cutter home on a cul-de-sac, and someone from West Hollywood, Calif., recently mailed 1,450 grams of marijuana to that address. Federal agents with the U.S. postal inspector's office intercepted both packages, according to search warrant applications — and subsequent lists of what the searches revealed — unsealed in U.S. District Court in Baltimore this week.

The Most Rev. Harry A. Clinch, 94, a participant in the historic Second Vatican Council and first bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Monterey, died Saturday in Santa Cruz, Calif., of complications from pneumonia. Bishop Clinch voted at the council, called by Pope John XXIII in 1962 and completed under Paul VI, which initiated sweeping changes in the church. Jim Donald, 57, a quadriplegic attorney who fought for increased access for the disabled, died Feb. 24 in Sacramento, Calif.

When it comes to changing diapers, breastfeeding and swaddling, 40 is the new 30. A recent national report found birth rates falling in virtually every age group of women in their childbearing years — except for those between 40 and 50. The group aged 40 to 44 had its largest birth rate since 1967. Benefiting from improvements in reproductive technology and the fact that most Americans are living longer, more women 40 and over are choosing to have children in later life, particularly after they've accomplished career goals.

Two years ago when I started stripping the wallpaper from the first of six papered rooms in my 90-year-old house, I would have never suspected that today I'd be checking out wall covering design houses online and asking decorator friends if they knew a good paper hanger. I've lived in old houses my entire adult life, and they've all had bad wallpaper in common. English ivy climbing the walls. Tiny pink and yellow flowers suspended in a burgundy field. Sometimes layers had been applied one on top of the other, strata of bad taste.

Chuck Carpy,68, considered one of the founders of the modern Napa Valley wine industry, died Monday of a heart attack in St. Helena, Calif.His grandfather went to California from Bordeaux, France, at the end of the Civil War and eventually founded Christian Brothers cellars in St. Helena.Mr. Carpy founded Freemark Abbey Winery in 1967 and co-founded Rutherford Hill Winery in 1976 and Napa Valley Bank in 1982. He also directed the Napa Valley Wine Library and was president of the Napa Valley Vintners Association and the Wine Institute.
