SANFORD BENSON WAGGONER, 80, of Reva died Thursday, March 23, 2006 at his residence. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 1, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1735 W. Hoover Rd, Haywood, VA 22722. Pastor Brian Wagner will be officiating. Interment will be held in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. Atholton fullback and linebacker Jon Sanford is happy now that he let his father talk him into playing football this season.How do you say no when that father, Ed, is president of the Columbia Bulldogs, your town's youth football league?"I told my dad I wanted to concentrate on my music this fall, but my dad told me he thought I needed to do something real disciplined like football," Sanford said. "He said I'd have the rest of my life to play music."

Sanford Mervis, an attorney, died Feb. 15 of a heart attack at his home in Ellicott City. He was 57.Born in Baltimore, he graduated from Forest Park High School and the Mount Vernon School of Law in Baltimore, to which he returned as a lecturer in 1970 and 1971.In 1965 and 1966 he was an attorney to the House Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, the Subcommittee on Investigations and the Special Subcommittee on Health. He then went into private practice, but was an assistant public defender for Howard and Carroll counties in the 1970s.

Gilbert A. Sanford, a retired sociologist and researcher at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, died Aug. 12 at Bon Secours Hospital of complications after surgery. He was 82.A memorial service for Mr. Sanford, who lived at the Charlestown Retirement Community, will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at the Towson Unitarian Universalist Church, 1710 Dulaney Valley Road.He retired in 1978 after about five years at the Hopkins school.Moving to the Baltimore area in 1956, he worked briefly as a technical writer for what is now the Martin-Marietta Corp.

Theodore B. "Scotty" Sanford Sr., a residential developer wh built houses in northern Anne Arundel County, died of diabetes Wednesday at the Joseph Richey Hospice in Baltimore.Mr. Sanford, who was 76, founded the Sanford Construction Co. in 1953 and built individual homes in Glen Burnie, Pasadena and Severna Park.He was responsible for a significant amount of the development of northern Anne Arundel County at a time when thousands of people were moving there to take jobs with large employers, including the National Security Agency at Fort Meade and Westinghouse Corp.

Sanford "Sandy" Harris, a bankruptcy attorney and partner in a downtown Baltimore law firm, died of congestive heart failure Saturday at Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care. The Pikesville resident was 80. Born in Baltimore and raised on Mount Royal Terrace, he was a 1940 graduate of City College. His studies at the University of Maryland, College Park were interrupted by service in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After working briefly in retail, Mr. Harris earned his law degree in 1956 from the University of Baltimore and was elected to the school's Heuisler Honor Society.
