SANDRA ANNE GLAH, 69, a resident of Riverside, CT, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2010 after a four year battle with cancer. Sandy was born on February 14, 1940 the daughter of the late Omar and Sarah Shake. She grew up in Towson, MD. Sandy attended Northwestern University and was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. She married Roy A. Glah in January, 1960 and was a loving and dedicated wife for 50 years. Sandy was a beloved mother to her four children (Robert, Leslie, Kristie and Susan)

Sandra J. Caplan, a former businesswoman who owned and operated a Mount Washington florist and clothing store and later became a founding member of New Directions for Women Inc., died Friday of pneumonia at Sinai Hospital. The Cross Keys resident was 75. Sandra Joan Axe was born in Philadelphia and raised in Lower Merion Township, Pa. After graduating in 1951 from Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, Pa., she attended Pennsylvania State University for a year. In 1953, she married Martin Caplan, a Baltimore businessman, who later owned A-1 Cleaning Service, a home cleaning business.

Since then, she has become a certified coding specialist through the American Health Information Management Association, which requires yearly self-assessments and continuing-education credits.

DAVID S. MALLINAK, age 51, lost his war with cancer on Wednesday, November 12, 2008. Resident of Mt. Rainier, formerly of Parma, OH. Son of the late Eleanor Mallinak; brother of Sandra (Gary) Walrath, Douglas Mallinak; uncle of Jessica, Mark, and Kelly Walrath; close friend of Kathleen Norvell and many others also survive. For 28 years he was a dedicated employee of the DOD; member of Maclean's Co. of Irish Foote, Admirals Regiment, War of 1812 Reenactors, Dandy 5th Regiment, Asquinth's Sharp Shooters, Society for Creative Anachronism and Historical Guild of Maryland.
