LOS ANGELES -- Malcolm I. BaseballSan Diego Padres -- Won their arbitration case with C Dann Bilardello (.269, 5 RBI in 26 at-bats), when an arbitrator picked the team's offer of $125,000 rather than Bilardello's request of $235,000. Bilardello made $115,000 last year. The $125,000 salary -- just $16,000 above the minimum -- was the lowest for a player in arbitration since Feb. 6, 1986, when Philadelphia Phillies C Alan Knicely was given $80,000 rather than his request for $140,000.
