Former Dunbar star David Wingate is one step closer to resuming his NBA career with yesterday's news that a criminal case against him in Texas has been dropped due to insufficient evidence.According to a report in today's Sun, an agreement was reached to settle a civil suit filed by a 22-year-old San Antonio woman who claimed Wingate raped her in June 1990.A Bexar County district attorney "concluded there was not sufficient evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt," The Sun said.

Back in July, the Baltimore Stallions had a most enjoyable home opener at the expense of the San Antonio Texans. A day after being christened with their new nickname, the Stallions scored three touchdowns late in the first half, igniting a 50-24 blowout. The following week at the Alamodome, Baltimore worked much harder for its 28-23 victory over the Texans. And the two teams have been watching each other's moves ever since.Today, they will get a much closer look at each other in the Southern Division championship game.
