A&A Realty acquired by Long & FosterLong & Foster Real Estate Inc. has acquired A&A Realty, which operates four sales offices in Western Maryland and West Virginia, including locations at Deep Creek Lake and a vacation rental and property management operation in McHenry.The other two locations are on U.S. 219 South in Oakland and a seasonal resort sales location at Alpine Lake, W. Va. All four sites will become Long & Foster sales offices.Karen Myers, former owner of A&A Realty, is manager of two of the Garrett County offices.

Cassell accepts state post, resigns chairmanshipReal Estate Brokers of Baltimore Inc. announced that Michael Cassell has resigned as chairman of the organization's board of directors to accept the governor's appointment to the Maryland Real Estate Commission.Cassell, who served as president of the local branch of the minority trade association in 1994 and 1979, was voted "Broker of the Year" by the National Association of Real Estate Brokers Inc. in August. He was also voted Broker of the Year for Maryland by the Real Estate Brokers of Baltimore Inc.Cassell is the broker and owner of Creative Real Estate Services Inc., owner and president of Express Appraisal services and an associate broker of Century 21 Home Specialist.

Long & Foster sales hit $2 billion in June Long & Foster Real Estate Inc. reported that it had total sales of $2 billion on 8,533 property sales last month. Overall, the Long & Foster companies - including its mortgage, title and insurance subsidiaries - had monthly sales of $2.9 billion, the best in the 34-year history of the Fairfax, Va.-based company. Long & Foster also reported that its sales this year are up 19 percent from sales in the first six months of last year. The Baltimore/Southern Pennsylvania region, with 51 offices, was up 13.3 percent last month.

Association names Bozzuto Builder of the YearThe Bozzuto Group of Greenbelt, a regional developer, homebuilder and property management company, was recently named 1998 Builder of the Year in the large-volume builder category by the Suburban Maryland Building Industry Association.The award cited the Greenbelt firm for "overall excellence in scheduling, supervision, engineering, quality control and ethics."Bozzuto also won the association's 1998 Finest in Family Living Award for new condominiums priced higher than $140,000 for a three-bedroom home at King Farm Condominiums in Rockville, a 92-unit complex that sold out in one year.

Timothy Martin, Professional Land Surveyor, has joined McCrone, Inc. in Annapolis, an engineering/environmental consulting and surveying firm.A resident of Edgewater, Mr. Martin will be responsible for permit processing in such fields as critical areas and light commercial site development in the Central Maryland Region.A graduate of Frostburg State University, Mr. Martin holds a bachelor of arts degree in geography-cartography and urban planning. Long & Foster July sales set company record Long & Foster Real Estate Inc. recorded its highest monthly sales statistic in the company's 32-year history last month with $1.3 billion on 6,516 properties - a 14 percent increase over July 1999. Long & Foster has sold $9.3 billion worth of property this year, beating last year's $8.4 billion sales figure by 11 percent. The top five sales offices in the metro Baltimore area for July were Annapolis, Greenspring, Ellicott City, Timonium and Crofton.
