Sister Mary Lucy Yingling, a member of the Sisters of Mercy whose career as an educator spanned nearly 50 years, died March 31 of complications from Parkinson's disease at The Villa, an assisted-living facility in the Woodbrook section of Baltimore County that her order shares with the Mission Helpers of the Sacred Heart. Sister Mary Lucy was 87. The daughter of a postal worker and a homemaker, she was born Katherine Teresa Yingling, the fifth of nine children, in Washington and raised in Georgetown.

Henry Strohminger, a retired automobile dealership owner who was a founder of a support group for heart transplant patients, died of kidney failure Friday at his Surfside Beach, S.C., home. The former Glen Arm and Severna Park resident was 77. Born in Baltimore and raised on Hudson Street in Highlandtown, he attended Sacred Heart of Jesus School and was a 1952 graduate of Calvert Hall College High School. He remained active in the school's alumni association and was its president for two terms and chaired its bull and oyster roasts.

Sacred Heart (7-4, 5-0 Northeast Conference) scored the final three goals, including two in overtime, to win, 9-7, over visiting Mount St. Mary's (4-6, 2-2). Ashley Johnson had two goals for the Mount. Cori Horelik had three, including the tying goal with 10:59 left in regulation. The Archdiocese of Baltimore has designated an elementary school in Rosedale to receive special-education students from two schools it will close at the end of the year. The archdiocese said Thursday it would move the Pupils Receiving Inclusive Diversified Education (PRIDE) program to St. Clement Mary Hofbauer School on Chesaco Avenue. St. Clement Mary Hofbauer will receive students from Sacred Heart of Mary School and Mother Mary Lange Catholic School, where 55 are enrolled in the program for children with minimal learning disabilities.

Sister M. Kathleen Martin, a member of the Mission Helpers of the Sacred Heart who was a pastoral associate, died March 1 from complications of a stroke at The Villa, the assisted-living facility her order shares with the Sisters of Mercy in the Woodbrook section of Baltimore County. She was 87. Kathleen Martin was born and raised in Cumberland. She was a graduate of Catholic Girls' Central High School and entered the Mission Helpers of the Sacred Heart. She professed her vows in 1949, and took the religious name of Sister Ignatia of the Precious Blood, and reverted to her baptismal name in 1968.
