It wasn't clear the crowd knew who she was. It's possible that, with her spandex onesie and lopsided blonde wig, they might even have taken her for a hometown girl. So halfway through a Miami show earlier this month, she felt the need to point out who the relentless 19-year-old dancer and singer on stage was. "I go by the name Rye Rye," she said. " R-y-e R-y-e. " It's been two years since the Baltimore rapper first came to prominence and then disappeared to have a child.

Baltimore rapper Rye Rye announced the birth of her second child, a boy, on social media sites this week.  "And he is OUTTTTTTTT! Omg I'm so happy... "  she posted on Instagram at 2:25 a.m. Monday. "I'm done! My baby boy is here! Thanks everyone for the safe and best wishes. "  Rye Rye did not immediately respond to a request for comment.  The musician and dancer, who has collaborated with rapper M.I.A. and appeared in "21 Jump Street" last year, kept her pregnancy discretely hidden in baggy tops in posts on Instagram and Twitter until just a few days ago.  Earlier this week, Rye Rye, 22, posted selfies on Instagram in which a flowing lavender dress clung to her pregnant belly.  "Finally about to have my baby boy!

The lineup for this year's event, which will take place across six Station North stages (addresses to come later) on Aug. 30-Sept. 1, was released on Impose magazine's website earlier today. Some names immediately jump off the list: Roomrunner (whose debut "Ideal Cities" is one of the best Baltimore records of the year thus far), Rye Rye, Schwarz and Great American Canyon Band are just a handful of the smart choices.

Back in March, when we asked readers who they'd most like to see at Virgin FreeFest, they had some ambitious wish lists: Mumford & Sons, Girl Talk, and Florence and the Machine. One person wanted to see the cast of "Glee. " Meanwhile, Grizzly Bear, and locals Wye Oak and Rye Rye also got a bunch of mentions. No doubt when the line-up for this year's festival was finally revealed with much fanfare Monday, they were disappointed to find out those acts hadn't made the cut. Nope, not even "Glee," which should have made the cut if only to see Patti Smith's reaction to them.

For the past two years, James Nasty has co-hosted the Physical Education dance party at Ottobar each Friday, spinning everything from Basement Boys to Future Islands. This Friday, Nasty will not only host TT the Artist's birthday party at Ottobar, but he'll be shooting footage for his first music video. His sets are eclectic, so it's no surprise his answers for Like/Dislike are, too. What's on your iPod? Rye Rye's latest mixtape, RYEOT POWRR , with the homie, DJ Sega, Hall and Oates' Greatest Hits and the new LMFAO album, Sorry For Party Rocking . I also put tunes I have in the works on my iPod.

"It's raw, simple, almost primal music that is meant to be the soundtrack to the time of your life. " That's DJ James Nasty talking about Baltimore club music. He's a longtime fan. But for an upcoming gig, he's been researching it and other historic Baltimore sounds more meticulously than he would for his weekly Mustache party at the Ottobar . The online magazine Gutter asked him and DJ Benny Stixx to come up with a dance party where they'd spin only Baltimore music. The two will finally show off their set lists tonight at the Windup Space at a party where they'll play songs that stretch as far back as the 1940s.

For a moment I could almost taste the acrid shot of Pikesville and feel its warm glow as it travelled down the old alimentary canal, to be followed, at a decent interval, by a cool, contrasting and modest sip or two of National Bohemian. But my warm reminiscences are tinged with vague feelings of guilt.
