While the Ravens are preparing for Sunday's conference championship game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the NFL has sent its own team to Baltimore: A group of investigators is seeking to curtail vendors looking to benefit illegally from the unexpected playoff run. Hawkers selling unlicensed Ravens apparel: beware. The NFL is scouring the area, fiercely guarding its product and willing to alert authorities if its name is being violated. NFL officials say that the unauthorized use of its shield and team logos on merchandise happens across the country every year, and that as teams progress through the playoffs, the issue grows substantially in the respective cities.

Brad Ruzicka, playing the biggest game of his high school lacrosse career, hadn't registered a point. No. 7 Dulaney's senior midfielder was kept under wraps for the first 46 minutes of last night's game against Urbana for the 4A-3A championship. But Ruzicka knew it was his final high school game and how high the stakes were; he also knew that when his number was called, he would respond. "It's my last high school game, and it's a state championship. I don't know if you could ask for anything bigger than that," Ruzicka said.

Deep in America's heartland there is a man who knows who our next president will be.He does no polling. He assembles no focus groups. He talks to not a single voter. His name is Corey Ruzicka. He lives in Mishawaka, Ind. He is a statistician. And back in 1991 when we had won the Persian Gulf war and George Bush's approval ratings were stratospheric, Ruzicka predicted that Bush would lose re-election to a semi-obscure politician named Bill Clinton. How does Ruzicka do it? Easy. He looks at the last letter of the last name of each candidate.

It's all over. Forget about the presidential campaign. We already know who the winner is going to be."Clinton is going to win," Corey Ruzicka, a market analyst from Mishawaka, Ind., said. "And that's because his name ends in N. )) He probably will be a one-term president or something willhappen to him in office, however, because his running mate, Al Gore, has a name that ends in E."Huh?"Nine out of nine times in American history when a vice presidential candidate's name ends in E, the president has not ++ gone on to a second term or gets shot or both," Ruzicka said.

The No. 10 Dulaney boys lacrosse team has enough offensive firepower to hang with anyone. Senior midfielders Eric Keppler, Cody Lehrer and Jay Mann pace an offense capable of shooting opponents out of games. So how exactly do you stop the Lions? "Don't give them the ball," Urbana coach Joe Conner said. "You have to have long possessions on offense. If we don't get a goal, we still get three minutes off the clock, and the longer they don't touch it, the better our chances." Yesterday afternoon, Urbana of Frederick County controlled possession and was able to hold off a late rally by the Lions, winning, 8-7, in Timonium.
