POLICE LOG* Clarksville: 12100 block of Route 108: A safe and cash were stolen from Riverhill Garden Center after someone pried open a rear door and entered Wednesday, police said.

Police logWilde Lake: 10600 block of Route 108: On Thursday, someone reported that a burglar pried open the door of a storage shed and took ski equipment between Nov. 10 and Nov. 15.

* Clarksville: 12100 block of Route 108: Silver was taken from a residence between June 7 and Tuesday. There was no sign of forced entry, police said.

Signs recently went up along Route 32 between Clarksville (Route 108) and West Friendship (near Interstate 70) informing drivers of mandatory use of their headlights. A Columbia man was killed Thursday when his car hit a utility pole along Route 108 in Ellicott City.Howard County police said Wayne Leroy Wilson, 41, of the 5400 block of Harpers Farm Road was pronounced dead at the scene.Police said Wilson was driving east on Route 108 about 2 p.m. when his 1983 Ford Capri crested a slight rise in the road. A trash vehicle and several other cars were stopped ahead.To avoid hitting the vehicles, Wilson skidded across the center line, just east of Eliots Oak Road, and hit the pole.

A 43-year-old Laurel man accused of running a red light and causing a car crash that killed an Ellicott City businessman last year has been indicted on a manslaughter charge. A Howard County grand jury returned a single-count indictment for negligent manslaughter last week against Robert Ice, of the 300 block of Brock Bridge Road. Ice was arrested Tuesday and released after posting $25,000 bond. The indictment was unsealed after his arrest. Prosecutors allege that Ice, who was westbound on Route 175 on Sept.
