I attended its schools, participated in youth sports and civic activities, and now house my business in Glen Burnie.

July 4 weekend activities in Rose Haven begin at 3 p.m. tomorrow. The Chesapeake Cultural Arts and Herrington Harbour Marina Resort plan activities ranging from swimming-pool events to music by the 55-piece National Concert Band of America. The band will perform at 8: 25 p.m. Fireworks begin at sunset. A lobster buffet will be available at 6 p.m. and dancing with music provided by a disc jockey will last until 1 a.m. The dinner is $25.95, and $5 will be charged for admission to the pool. Food and beverages will be sold.

Democrat Dorothy D. Chaney and Republican Robert A. Costa - who are facing off to represent the newly formed District 33B in the House of Delegates - list education and suburban sprawl as top priorities in a large district that includes most of southern Anne Arundel County and some Annapolis suburbs. The district extends north from the Anne Arundel County-Calvert County line and includes Rose Haven, Lothian and Harwood and part of Edgewater. It also includes neighborhoods north of U.S. 50 such as Rolling Knolls, Epping Forest and Sherwood Forest.

Fort Ave. without paying for medication valued at more than $100. After providing identification, the man was given a citation to appear in court.

When a subsidized apartment building for senior citizens was built at the edge of an Annapolis neighborhood notorious for drugs, crime and violence, many potential residents were concerned about safety and the general atmosphere.Little hope existed for the resolution of the racial, economic and generational tensions until the Rev. Hulan Marshall of Second Chance Ministries in Annapolis proposed what Carol Youmans describes as one of his "simple and wonderful solutions to community problems."

Anne Arundel marina owners say they are looking forward to the repeal of a county tax on the slips they lease that they say puts them at a competitive disadvantage.That day may come soon by means of a bill that phases out the tax by 1997. The measure, which is virtually assured passage because it is co-sponsored by the entire County Council, comes before the council for a public hearing tonight.County marina owners have been lobbying for repeal for years."I think the biggest problem is Anne Arundel County has long been at a disadvantage with the other counties because no other county has it," said Mitchell Nathanson, who owns Pier 4 Marina in Annapolis, as well as marinas in five other counties.

WHILE SCHOOLS officially open this week, the real start of the academic year was Friday afternoon, when many local schools posted class lists so that students could find out who their new teachers will be.Shortly after the lists were posted on the school walls, cars began to arrive.
