A Harford County man accused of stabbing his roommate multiple times in a fight over a cellphone Friday has been charged with first degree assault and attempted second degree murder, the sheriff's office said. Antoine Eugene Parker-Washington, 27, from Abingdon was being held on a $500,000 bond following the charges in connection with the stabbing of his roommate, Michael Darren Thomas, 27. Deputies responded to the pair's apartment in the Woodsdale complex shortly before 10 p.m. and found Thomas suffering multiple stab wounds, officials said.

Baltimore police charged the roommate of a man who was beaten and set on fire in connection with the grisly murder earlier this week. Police and firefighters found the body of Nathaniel Quarterman, 54, on fire in an alley behind the 4200 block of Shamrock Ave. around 2 a.m. Friday morning. A trail of blood led from Quarterman's body to underneath a balcony on one of the homes in the block. It was not clear if Quarterman jumped or was thrown from the balcony, but police later found blood on the balcony and inside Quarterman's bedroom.

An Abingdon man was stabbed multiple times Friday evening during an argument with his roommate, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said. The unnamed 27-year-old man was flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, according to a sheriff's office news release. It said his condition is not known. The roommate, also a 27-year-old man, was taken into custody by deputies. Deputies responded about 9:45 p.m. to the 100 block of Waldon Road for a report of a stabbing. The investigation is continuing.

Two Hebron residents were charged Monday with attempted murder and assault for beating a man, attempting to carve a tattoo from his arm, and setting him on fire, police said. The victim remains in critical condition at a burn center in Baltimore, the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office said. The incident occurred Monday just after 1 a.m. on the 7200 block of Rockawalkin Rd. in Hebron, police said. Officials say Paul Martin Hurst, 33, of Hebron and Cary Lee Edwards, 35, of Williamsburg, Va. began beating Zachary Swanson, 31, after an argument in the Hebron residence the three men share.

Baltimore police say they believe a 50-year-old man killed his roommate after an argument inside a Northwest apartment, Det. Jeremy Silbert said Sunday. William Brown is charged with first degree murder in the death of Andre Hill, 53, Silbert said. The victim was found stabbed to death shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday inside an apartment in the 3600 block of Seven Mile Lane in Cross Country, according to police. Baltimore County police charged a 20-year-old Dundalk man Tuesday with first-degree murder in his roommate's death. Edwin Alexander Iglesias-Reyes is accused of stabbing Victor DeJesus Portillo-Portillo, 26, of the 400 block of Scarsdale Road multiple times on Monday. Police said he then fled the home, leaving a trail of blood from the basement into a rear alley where a knife was found. Officers found blood around the surrounding neighborhood. The roommates had gotten into an fight but police said it's unclear what the argument was about.

A 34-year-old man has been charged in the non-fatal stabbing of his roommate who sought help from a nearby locksmith business on Reisterstown Road Thursday. Luis Alonso Andrade-Medrano has been charged with attempted first degree murder after police said he stabbed his roommate, Orlando Martinez, 43. The two men got into an argument at their home in the 9000 block of Reisterstown Road, when the dispute escalated into a physical fight. Martinez was stabbed multiple times and ran to a nearby Elite Lock and Key for help, police said.

A 29-year-old Reisterstown man kidnapped his roommate and coworker Wednesday after accusing the second man of paying $2,000 too much for a load of scrap metal, Baltimore County police said. Justin Earl Gorham allegedly kidnapped the victim, 23, and drove him to an Exxon gas station in the 11900 block of Reisterstown Road around 9:30 p.m., where police were waiting, said, Cpl. Cathy Batton, a police spokeswoman. Gorham, of the 11800 block of Maren Court, is charged with kidnapping, first-degree assault and the use of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Victor "Vic" Turyn, a retired Federal Bureau of Investigation and Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond official who had been an outstanding quarterback at College Park in the late 1940s, died Aug. 11 of heart failure at his Ellicott City home. He was 91. Victor Turyn was born in McRoberts, Tenn., to immigrant parents. His father, Jan Poltorovski was from Poland, and his mother, Anna Zablocki Poltorovski, was from Russia. "None of the family members know why immigration officials changed Jan's name to John Turyn, but they believe this was the way many immigrants in the 1900s received their Americanized names," said a daughter, Kathleen "Kathy" Stempkovski of Elkridge.

Authorities say they are continuing to investigate a student murder-suicide this year just off the University of Maryland, College Park campus, a revelation that comes a month after the case was declared closed. Detectives are not looking for additional suspects but are seeking background information on the alleged shooter, Dayvon Green. They are also awaiting responses to subpoenas in the case, according to a Prince George's County police spokesman. A department attorney, Jamar Herry, cited the inquiry as a reason not to provide a copy of the case file requested by The Baltimore Sun through the Maryland Public Information Act. Police would not say who or what was subpoenaed, or what information police are looking to find on Green.

Two people are facing attempted second-degree murder charges stemming from two unrelated stabbings on Monday, according to Anne Arundel County police. Police said a man looking for his roommate to drive him home from work Monday became "enraged" to find the roommate at a Crownsville apartment and, after threatening to stab him, threw a hunting knife at him twice, missing both times. Police arrived around 5:45 p.m. and said the victim, 40, had a small cut. Charged was Jeremy Earl Johnson, 38, of the 1500 block of Crownsville Road, police said.

A front-runner is Jennifer Anne Jobson, who talks about her freshman year roommate, who was sharpening a big knife the first time they met. One day, the girl -- who liked to eat fried chicken in bed -- took the knife to Jobson's mattress, some of her clothes, their rug and their bean bag chair. She also used it on a squirrel, which she left, dead, in Jobson's bed. Another person had a roommate that peed in the bathtub.

Dayvon Green was impaired by alcohol when he pulled a handgun out of his waistband in front of his College Park home early on a February morning and shot roommate Stephen Rane to death, according to autopsy reports released Thursday. Green, a graduate student at the University of Maryland, also wounded roommate Neal Oa before putting the gun to the back of his head, behind his right ear, and pulling the trigger, according to the reports. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner released the reports on Rane and Green after Prince George's County police and prosecutors confirmed that they had closed their investigation into the killings that shook the state's flagship university and led officials to direct more money toward mental health services for students.
