I'm confused by the rationale behind Councilwoman Belinda Conaway's recent comments advocating the removal of speed cameras in Baltimore City. She states that the cameras should be removed so we can concentrate on "quality of life issues. " But speed cameras are not only a quality of life issue but a public safety issue with life and death consequences. Maybe if Ms. Conaway spent less time in Randallstown, and more time in the district she was elected to serve, she would come to the same conclusion.

On June 29, 2007, ROBERT PAUL McNALLY; beloved husband of Rose Marie McNally; loving father of Francis Koerber and his wife Tami, Randolph Koerber and his wife, Angela, Heidi Karlsen, Rhona Stocksdale and her husband, Gregory, Karla McClintock and her husband, Donald, and the late Brenda McNally; cherished grandfather of 14 grandchildren. Also survived by several other loving relatives. Relatives and friends may call at the Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road on Monday, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. Viewing also to be held at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 101 Church Lane, Baltimore, 21208 on Tuesday from 10 to 10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will immediately follow at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.

Robert Paul Ward Sr., a retired Bethlehem Steel Corp. supervisor and longtime legislative aide to state Sen. Norman R. Stone Jr., died Saturday of cancer at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. The Millers Island resident was 69. Mr. Ward was born in Baltimore and raised in Highlandtown. After graduating from Calvert Hall College High School in 1957, he served in the Maryland National Guard. He went to work for Bethlehem Steel at Sparrows Point in 1960, and at the time of his retirement in 1986, he was a supervisor in the technical information department.
