Pro wrestling legend Ric Flair was at Fenway Park on Tuesday night to meet with Dustin Pedroia and the Red Sox . Our Dan Connolly reported that a couple of Orioles players got a kick out of meeting him , too. The play did not pay off for Boston, though, as "the Nature Boy" was unable to "WOOO!" the Red Sox past the feisty Orioles . John Cena returned after a one-week absence to hype his rematch with Brock Lesnar, and it was like he never left. After losing in brutal fashion to Lesnar at Summerslam, many wondered how that would affect Cena's character. It was one of the more brutal losses in wrestling and, especially if he was going for a rematch, it seemed something would have to change for Cena to be able to compete with Lesnar once again. However, based on Monday night, it seems nothing will change in Cena's quest to recapture the WWE World Heavyweight Title.

Every now and then the WWE has a legend return, for various reasons. Sometimes it could be to get a simple pop, or ratings. Sometimes it can make sense in a storyline. Other times, it can be to put young talent over. On Monday night, the WWE did the last of these, using Ric Flair to give a rub to The Shield, despite his previous Evolution ties. When it was announced on Twitter that Ric Flair would be coming back on Raw, it was assumed it would be part of the Evolution storyline.

Shawn Michaels hasn't achieved the mainstream recognition of other World Wrestling Entertainment superstars such as Hulk Hogan, The Rock or "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. But among pro wrestling fans, Michaels is considered one of the greatest wrestlers ever, because of his highly athletic style and fluid moves. On Sunday, Michaels, 40, will face 52-year-old Hulk Hogan -- whose legendary charisma overshadows his lack of wrestling technique -- in the main event of WWE's SummerSlam pay-per-view show at MCI Center.

This Sunday at TNA's Bound For Glory pay-per-view event, tag champs Christopher Daniels and Kazarian will defend in a triple threat match against AJ Styles & Kurt Angle, and Chavo Guerrero Jr. & Hernandez. "The Fallen Angel" -- approaching 20 years in the pro wrestling game -- has had a very interesting road in the business. My colleague Jimi Kee and I had a chance to speak with Daniels: I know you have a busy weekend ahead, so let's get right into it. I'm actually packing for this weekend you're talking about, sir. It is a busy weekend and I appreciate your forthrightness, so let's get to it!

Retirement celebrations can be a special thing in professional wrestling. Look back to Ric Flair's final farewell to the WWE after losing to Shawn Michaels. That night at WrestleMania and the night that followed on Raw will forever be remembered as truly emotional and memorable. But in my estimation, those types of events will be rarities moving forward in wrestling. And Ric Flair is to thank for that. WWE gave Flair the grandest farewell a television audience has seen in wrestling.
