I found Dan Rodricks ' column on Dr. Ben Carson jaded and biased ("Ben Carson's biblically based conservatism," March 31). Mr. Rodricks accused Dr. Carson of making homophobic remarks, but it was just his opinion that the remarks were homophobic in nature. Mr. Rodricks should write a column every week denouncing those who oppose gay marriage for their anti-gay bigotry. I believe that homosexuals should have the same rights as any other citizen. However, if they need to legalize their actions they should do so and call it something other than marriage.

Friday's editions included a Q&A with Towson fifth-year senior goalkeeper Andrew Wascavage. Due to space constraints, here are some more answers that didn't make the cut. Can you name an opposing player you've faced with one of the hardest shots to stop? [Attackman Mike] Sawyer from Loyola is pretty hard. And the guy from Hopkins last year who broke his collarbone [attackman Chris Boland]. Even though he shot from close range, he could bring it. Who is the slickest offensive player you've faced?

For the most part, our representatives in Annapolis have completely lost touch with the people they represent. The hard-working people in this state are being taxed to death. The gas tax hike is only the latest slap in the face to struggling families ("House approves increase in gas tax," March 23). Since Gov. Martin O'Malley took office, he along with other elected Democrats have raised every fee and tax they could. The sales tax was increased, the income tax was increased, MVA fees have increased.

Ten years have passed since the United States invaded Iraq, a decision that almost everyone now ranks as one of the worst foreign policy blunders of our time. Why "almost"? Former President George W. Bush and his top aides still maintain that the invasion was a good idea, even though the premise on which the war was based - that Saddam Hussein had acquired weapons of mass destruction - proved false, and even though the ensuing war claimed the lives of more than 4,500 Americans and an estimated 127,000 Iraqis.

Brock Lesnar and Triple H officially sealed the deal on Raw and will meet at Wrestlemania. The two stipulations are that it will be No Holds Barred (similar to their match at Summerslam 2012) and that Triple H's career will be on the line. This, of course, is met with the same questions and concerns from longtime WWE fans whenever a career is on the line. Is it really on the line? From a performer standpoint, Triple H is in terrific shape. You could absolutely see him being able to handle several big matches a year.

If there is anything positive to come out of sequestration, maybe it will motivate us to take a good long look at what we spend on our military. Sixty percent of the 2013 discretionary budget proposed by President Barack Obama goes to the military including war, veterans and nuclear weapons programs. Again, that's 60 percent! In terms of dollars, it is $2.2 million every minute of the year. Presently, the U.S. Navy has 10 super carriers (with two more under construction and another in the planning stages)

The only residents of the Westport waterfront last week were a gaggle of geese that commandeered a large puddle amid the brush and broken asphalt. The only structure was a battered chain-link fence, capturing wind-blown litter along the perimeter. By now the 43-acre tract, assembled and cleared over several years with millions of dollars and personal resolve, was supposed to house hundreds and bustle with office workers. There should be a towering skyscraper and a stadium. Instead, the development company that was going to make that happen is in bankruptcy and the future of the $1.4 billion Westport Waterfront project, thought of as a potential "Harbor West," is uncertain.

Jacoby Jones danced in several NFL end zones this season as he went from unheralded free agent pickup to one of the heroes of the Ravens' Super Bowl XLVII victory over the San Francisco 49ers earlier this month. He'll now take his dance moves to another stage, and this time, they'll be judged. The wide receiver and Pro Bowl return man was unveiled by ABC tonight as one of the contestants on 'Dancing With the Stars.' The rest of the cast will be announced Tuesday on Good Morning America . Season 16 of the show will debut on March 18 on ABC. The announcement was made during a commercial break of tonight's Academy Awards on ABC. "Jacoby Jones just won a Super Bowl ring," the commercial said.
