Baltimore County police chased a stolen car to a suburban cul-de-sac in White Marsh early Tuesday and shot a suspect to death in the woods nearby, police said. The chaos roused neighbors in the development nestled between Interstate 95 and Philadelphia Road. Baltimore County officers were pursuing a Toyota Corolla reported stolen from Baltimore that struck a police cruiser and another car, police said. Officers were combing the streets of the development when one found 19-year-old Briatay McDuffie and, after a struggle, fatally shot him, police said.

A Baltimore police car was stolen while it was parked overnight in Catonsville, Baltimore County police said. A city officer reported the theft to county authorities at 6:41 a.m., Baltimore County police Corp. John Wachter said. The unmarked 2014 silver Chevrolet Impala had been parked outside a home in the 300 block of Orley Road at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday. The officer told county police that the car was gone when he returned to the site of his parked vehicle at 6:40 a.m. Police would not say why the car was parked there.

Aberdeen Students and staff at George D. Lisby Elementary School at Hillsdale were evacuated from the school Monday afternoon after a dishwasher overheated. The dishwasher in the kitchen of the Aberdeen school sustained fire damage, but it was contained to the machine, according to Teri Kranefeld, manager of communications for Harford County Public Schools. The students and staff were able to get out of the building safely and then returned once fire officials determined it was safe.

Three luxury cars were stolen from a Glen Burnie auto dealership early Thursday and Anne Arundel County police arrested a suspect they said was driving one of the missing cars nearby just hours later. Police found the KB Auto Emporium at 7603 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd. ransacked on Thursday morning, with a window smashed and a safe left open. Three cars -- a 2008 Chrysler 300, a 2006 BMW 750i and a 2007 Mercedes 350 -- were stolen, the owner told police. An unknown number of new vehicle tags were also missing.

Minutes after being pulled over by a state trooper on the side of Interstate 95 in White Marsh this week, 23-year-old Bel Air resident Scott Kampes was slumped over in the driver's seat of the car he was driving — fatally wounded from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head, according to Maryland State Police. Police said the shot, from a .22-caliber semiautomatic handgun found in Kampes' lap, was not heard by the two state troopers at the scene or by his uncle, who was also there.

Boys basketball practice at Archbishop Spalding on Saturday was more than just running drills, practicing jumpers and preparing for Sunday afternoon's game at St. Maria Goretti, a 58-56 loss for the Cavaliers. For fifth-year coach Derrick Lewis and the Cavaliers, it was a chance to learn about life and deal with the trying circumstances that came from an incident during Friday night's game at St. Frances. When the Cavaliers returned to their locker room at halftime, they found their belongings had been sorted through and some items were missing.

Just as the temperatures were about to soar into the 90s, Annapolis police said a city resident reported his snowball maker was apparently stolen. Police said Wednesday that a resident of the 1800 block of Robert Small Road came to the police station Monday to say that his Sno Master machine was gone from the locked storage room of his basement last Saturday. He had placed it in there in April. There were no signs of forced entry, and family members, who have access to that room, said they had no knowledge about a theft of the equipment, according to police.
