Service was interrupted yesterday on the MARC Camden Line between Baltimore's Oriole Park and Greenbelt after a person was struck by a freight train, transit officials said. Maryland Rail Commuter officials had no information about the victim, who was struck by a CSX Corp. train about 2:30 p.m. on the tracks between the Laurel and Muirkirk stations in Prince George's County, said MARC spokesman Richard Scher. Service resumed about 4:30 p.m. between Union Station and Greenbelt. Shuttle buses carried passengers from Greenbelt to stops farther north, he said.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said on his Twitter page today that the league is expected to release its regular-season schedule Thursday night at 8 p.m. The unveiling is expected to be made on NFL Network. It was initially expected that the schedule would be released today, but it's been delayed for two days. The Ravens will open on the road after they couldn't work out a scheduling compromise with the Orioles on the night of Sept. 5. The Denver Broncos are believed to be their most likely opponent that night, but the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears are also possibilities.

At this time of year, pitchers like to say they are right on schedule as they navigate through the drawn-out process that is spring training. Orioles right-hander Jason Hammel put a different spin on the old cliché after his four-inning stint in Tuesday's intrasquad game. “Actually I think I am ahead of schedule. I feel strong,” Hammel said. “My legs feel real strong and the arm today finally felt that life. ... Once I got in the fourth inning I felt pretty much as good as I did in the first inning.

With just five regular-season contests and the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament remaining on the regular schedule, time is running out on Maryland's Jake Bernhardt to return from a left shoulder injury that has sidelined the senior midfielder since the preseason. For now, coach John Tillman's approach is that Bernhardt, who registered 14 goals and three assists as a starter last season, will not return this season. “We're preparing that he's never coming back, knowing that if he does, those are some good problems to have,” Tillman said Tuesday.
