Texas makes its first of two trips to Camden Yards this season, and the Rangers will be looking for a little revenge. The Orioles took two of three in Arlington, Texas, last week. As usual, the Rangers are crushing the ball. The team leads the majors in home runs, hitting 27 in its first 14 games. And the Rangers' batting average is toward the top of the American League as well, thanks in part to second baseman Ian Kinsler, who is in the top 10 in hits, total bases, doubles, RBIs and stolen bases.

NEW YORK -- The New York Rangers' Brian Leetch swept the Washington Capitals out of the Eastern Conference semifinals last night, with a goal with 3:28 to play.Leetch, who has tormented Washington in all but one game of this series, found himself alone in front of the Capitals net and blasted the winner past goalie Rick Tabaracci, who had played a brilliant game in relief of starter Don Beaupre. It was the last goal for a 4-3 victory in a wonderfully played game by both sides. In the end, the sellout crowd of 18,200 at Madison Square Garden got its way and sent the teams off to the chants of "Let's go, Rangers."

ARLINGTON, Texas - The Rangers have had success against left-hander Joe Saunders -- the Orioles' starter in tonight's AL wild-card game -- but Texas manager Ron Washington said Saunders is a much different pitcher that he one his team saw often in the AL West when he pitched with the Angels. “From what I understand and what I've been reading in the reports, he's not the guy I remember reading about when he was in Anaheim,” Washington said. “So I think we're just going to have to wait and see. We know he's going to use his off-speed.

NEW YORK -- When it was over, the Rangers gave a few lucky fans the shirts off their backs. What they should have done is reimburse them for their tickets. Nobody got his money's worth during the Blueshirts' $61 million nightmare season, which mercifully came to an end yesterday afternoon with a 4-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers at Madison Square Garden. The building was half empty for the noon start, and many who showed up were rooting for the Flyers, who edged the Devils for the Eastern Conference title with the victory.

It was their most surprising series of the 2010 season, when the Orioles stormed into Texas and swept the Rangers in four games to close out last year's first half. Buck Showalter, who was living in Dallas at that time and mulling an opportunity to join the Orioles as manager, joked before Monday's game that he hoped his club could repeat history this week. The Orioles chose the wrong kind of recent franchise history to mirror in Monday's 13-4 loss to the Rangers, however, the kind that has hindered the Orioles for more than a decade: inefficient starting pitching, offensive ineptitude and a dash of bad defense.
