The Ravens won't put out an official list of inactives tonight before their preseason finale against the St. Louis Rams, but most of their starters will not play. Quarterback Joe Flacco , running back Ray Rice , center Matt Birk , linebackers Ray Lewis and Jameel McClain and safeties Ed Reed and Bernard Pollard are on the lengthy list of Ravens' starters who are not expected to suit up tonight. Not only does head coach John Harbaugh not want to risk any injuries to starters with the Sept.

As one of the Ravens' eight picks in April's NFL draft, DeAngelo Tyson knows that he performed well enough at the University of Georgia to draw the organization's attention. But the 23-year-old defensive end dismissed any notion that being a seventh-round pick assures himself of a spot on the team's active 53-man roster. “I know I've got to work for everything that I want,” he said after Monday's practice at the Ravens' headquarters in Owings Mills. “That's what I was taught since I was little.

Ravens safeties Christian Thompson and Omar Brown were stretching after a recent practice when Thompson realized that they might be asked to play the entire preseason finale against the St. Louis Rams on Thursday night. “We were just joking about it while we were stretching,” Thompson said. “We were saying, 'We've got to get ready,' because that includes special teams. So it could be a long four quarters on Thursday. But if that's how it's going to play out, we've just got to prepare and make the most of our opportunities.” Added Brown: “It kind of hit me today, and that's why we were doing a little bit of extra running after practice.” Thompson and Brown might be pressed into lengthier duty because of a sudden lack of depth in the safety corps.

Steel Panther and James Durbin performed at Rams Head Live on Thursday night. Contributor Jay Trucker has this review: Comedy clubs are littered with guys who can strum the guitar and tell jokes concurrently, but the key to a great musical comedy act is the strength of their musicianship. As with Weird Al and Spinal Tap, Steel Panther demonstrate talent comparable and at times superior to the acts they parody.   The '80s glam-metal foursome formed in 2000 according to its bio (or in 1988 according to the “bio”)
