In the wake of the NFL fining the Ravens $20,000 for failing to list free safety Ed Reed's torn shoulder labrum on injury reports, the team deluged Wednesday's injury report by placing a season-high 15 players on it. Defensive end Pernell McPhee did not practice because of a thigh injury. Defensive tackle Haloti Ngata (right shoulder), cornerback Jimmy Smith (groin) and wide receiver Jacoby Jones (foot) participated on a limited basis. Eleven players practiced fully. Eight are starters, and they are safeties Bernard Pollard (chest)

When I keep hearing that second-year player Jah Reid might be getting some playing time at left guard, there is cause for concern. I knew he was a project when the Ravens drafted him in the third round out of Central Florida, but I haven't seen anything that would warrant him getting playing time. He has spent more time in the training room for rehab than on the practice and playing fields. I'm concerned. To be even having this conversation means the Ravens are in deep trouble at left guard.

Bobbie Williams hasn't been informed yet whether he will open Sunday's contest against the Denver Broncos at right guard, but with usual starter Marshal Yanda dealing with what coach John Harbaugh characterized Monday as a “seriously sprained ankle,” going with Williams would seem to make sense. If that does happen, the 13-year veteran said his preparation this week won't be any different from previous weeks. “You always want to be ready going in. So you've got to prepare as if you are going in,” Williams said prior to Wednesday's practice.

The absence of cornerback Lardarius Webb will hurt this team more than inside linebacker Ray Lewis not being in the lineup. Webb was playing extremely well and had forced other teams to stay away from him. He pretty much had shut down one quarter of the field. Without him, teams will start attacking the entire field again. Cornerbacks Cary Williams and Jimmy Smith have shown improvement in the last two games, but opposing teams weren't throwing at them. When you can run for more than 200 yards a game, why throw?

At this time a year ago, Oniel Cousins was battling back after having a cyst removed from his esophagus. Now, healthier and more motivated, Cousins has a different fight on his mind. "My goal is to be the starting right tackle," said Cousins, who was a guest at Derrick Mason's football camp at McDaniel College on Friday. "I said that last year, but it didn't play out like that obviously for health reasons or whatever it was. I know I can do it. I believe in myself. My family believes in me and I hope the coaches believe in me, too. " The amount of belief by the coaching staff is up for debate.

This feature appears each Tuesday on the Baltimore Sports Blitz. It's just like “What They're Saying About the Ravens,” but it includes blogger Matt Vensel saying something about what those people are saying. Got it? --- Chris Burke of SI. com said that Joe Flacco and the Ravens made a statement on “Monday Night Football.” “Think you can stop the Ravens' offense? Good luck. Baltimore barely even needed [Ray] Rice on Monday night -- he scored twice but received just 10 carries, or three less than the rest of the Ravens combined,” he wrote.

Ravens officials made it clear at this week's NFL meetings that their primary focus over the next month is not what remains on the free-agent market. With 12 selections in next month's draft, the organization is busy evaluating college players who will help replenish a roster that has been hit hard by free agency, releases and retirements. But with a little over $7 million of remaining salary-cap space, the Ravens are still looking to add a couple of free agents, hoping to find a couple of bargains that will help fill some holes.

The NFL offseason heats up on Tuesday when the free agency period begins and the NFL draft will take place next month. In anticipation of those events, blogger and reporter Matt Vensel will look at six key positions the Ravens might address in free agency and the NFL draft in the days leading up to the start of free agency. The revamped offensive line was one of the biggest reasons the Ravens regrouped in the playoffs and rallied to win their second Super Bowl title. With the starting five often providing him a clean pocket, Joe Flacco threw 11 touchdown passes in the playoffs.

Another Ravens organized team activity just came to an end, and coach John Harbaugh , along with the team's coordinators, met the media following it. We'll have plenty of coverage on our site later but here are a few notes to tide you over until then: This week and next week's OTAs are voluntary and overall, the session wasn't as well attended as the OTAs were last week. Veteran center Matt Birk , who wasn't here last week, was on the field today. However, many of the players that attended last week were not present today.
