Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Baltimore City and Baltimore County. Baltimore City Northeastern District Standoff/arrest: A man charged in a warrant with shooting his wife was arrested last night after barricading himself for four hours in a friend's home in the 5800 block of Loch Raven Blvd. in Ramblewood. Police fired tear gas into the house about 7:30 p.m., entered and arrested Chauncey Scott, 30, of the 900 block of Reverdy Road. Scott is accused of shooting Wanda Scott, 35, in the shoulder in their home early Wednesday.

A 22-year-old Baltimore woman — who police say was caught shoplifting Thursday — died after her vehicle ran into a pole in the White Marsh Mall parking lot, Baltimore County police said. According to police spokesman Lt. Robert McCullough, Lauren Nicole Turner of 1100 block of Ramblewood Road was caught shoplifting at the Ikea in the 8300 block of Honeygo Boulevard in White Marsh at 11:15 a.m. Thursday. Workers took her name and released her from the store. Around noon, the spokesman said, Turner "was observed driving at a high rate of speed" in the Sears parking lot of the mall, which is next to the Ikea store.

Ocean City's Springfest Get into the swing of spring at Ocean City's annual Springfest today through Sunday. The four-day festival has live entertainment, arts and crafts, children's activities, an array of foods and more. Musical headliners will be Herman's Hermits with Peter Noone at 8 p.m. today, country singer Darryl Worley at 8 p.m. tomorrow and the Spinners at 8 p.m. Saturday. Other musical acts include the Marquees, Frank Curreri, Randy Lee Ashcraft and the Saltwater Cowboys, Jesse Garron, Amanda Perko and more.

Howard, conservation district come to an understanding 2 A memorandum of understanding has been reached that will allow the Howard County Soil Conservation District to again process plans for as many as 40 development projects that have stalled in the past month as inspectors went unpaid. Under the agreement between Howard County and the independent soil conservation district, which was signed Friday, the county will collect as much as $110,000 annually to be dispersed by the Soil Conservation District.

Waterfront festival The lowdown -- Miss out on the Volvos' visit to downtown Baltimore? Not to worry. Baltimore County has its own Community Waterfront Festival this Saturday. Children can participate in arts and crafts, games and a scavenger hunt in the Glenn L. Martin Aviation Museum. Attractions include marine exhibits, a boat show, live entertainment, a chance to talk with WBAL-TV reporters, food vendors, a historic skipjack, water taxi tours and a fireworks display. If you go -- The Baltimore County Community Waterfront Festival will be held from 10 a.m. until dark on Lockheed Martin property at Dark Head Cove.

County and state police arrested four people Wednesday morning afterraiding two homes in Meade Village.Valerie Scrivner, 32, of the 1600 block Circle Road; Kenna Pinkney, 28, of the 1800 block Circle Road; Clarence Barton, 33, of the 1700 block Richfield Drive, all in Severn; and Albert Johnson, 40, of the 8200 block Kramer Court in GlenBurnie, were charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.Police said officers served a search warrant at about 10:30 p.m. in an apartment at 1681 Circle Road and seized documents and drug paraphernalia.

A Baltimore police officer shot a motorist in the face -- critically wounding him -- after the man charged toward him with an iron mallet in Southeast Baltimore, a police spokesman said.The injured man, Michael A. McCormick, 39, of the 1900 block of Ramblewood Road in Northeast Baltimore was in critical condition last night at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Police said they initially tried to stop Mr. McCormick's charge by spraying him with chemical Mace, but he was unaffected.Police spokesman Doug Price said Mr. McCormick had been involved in a minor two-car accident on O'Donnell Street near the Interstate 95 exit when Officers Darryle Blake, 21, and Reginald McNeill, 23, arrived to investigate about 5:40 p.m.Mr.

A 15-year-old girl was killed and three of her friends were seriously injured Thursday when the car they were riding in flew out of control and slammed into a tree on Mago Vista Road in Arnold.Kristen Laine Gough of the 1100 block of Ramblewood Drive of Arnold suffered severe head injuries in the accident and died shortly before midnight at Anne Arundel Medical Center.The driver, David Nicholas Shupe, 17, of the 1500 block of Star Pine Drive in Arnold, was in critical condition yesterday, and Erin Posson, 14, of the 1100 block of Silverleaf Drive in Arnold was in serious condition, both at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Olga A. Fasold,a retired registered nurse and accomplished needleworker, died Monday of heart failure at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was 85 and lived in the Ramblewood section of Northeast Baltimore. Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., Olga A. Incas attended high school there. She married James S. Moulton, a merchant seaman, in 1936 and settled in Baltimore. After his death in 1954, she earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland School of Nursing in 1956 and began her career.
