A private security officer at the Ramada Inn in Baynesville was shot and killed early this morning during what police presume was a botched robbery.Baltimore County police said John Harold Bowling, 42, of the 1400 block of Mirable Way in Pasadena, was shot two times in the chest with a handgun as he opened a locked lobby door.The gunman then ran from the motel without attempting a robbery, said Sgt. Stephen R. Doarnberger, a Baltimore County police spokesman.The victim had pulled his gun but had not fired the weapon, Sergeant Doarnberger said.

A man with a silver revolver robbed the Dash-In convenience store inGlen Burnie Tuesday.Police said the robber walked into the store, in the 7900 block of Crain Highway, at 10 p.m. and asked for a packof cigarettes.He gave the clerk $5, then demanded money after she opened the register.The man was given an undetermined amount of money and leftthe store when a customer arrived.The robber was described as a black male about 5-feet, 7-inches tall. He was wearing a black leather jacket and blue jeans.
