A U.S. Postal Service truck struck a light-rail train yesterday afternoon, the second vehicle since Friday to have been damaged in a collision with a Mass Transit Administration train, authorities said.No one was injured in either incident, MTA officials said.Yesterday's accident occurred at 2:08 p.m., when the mail truck attempted to make an illegal right turn from Howard Street to Preston Street and collided with the northbound train, said Dianna Rosborough, an MTA spokeswoman.The truck blocked both the north and south rail lines for about 40 minutes and passengers were transferred to other trains, Ms. Rosborough said.

FERNDALE -- Two passengers suffered smoke inhalation in an electrical fire aboard a Central Light Rail Line car during yesterday's evening rush hour, a Mass Transit Administration spokesman said.Anthony Brown, the spokesman, said the southbound train, heading for the Ferndale station, was nearing Broadview Boulevard about 4: 45 p.m. when passengers reported flames, smoke and sparks in one of the cars. The train, which carried 60 to 80 passengers, stopped and firefighters from area stations quickly extinguished the fire, said Battalion Chief Gary Sheckells of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

Light Rail trains headed from Cromwell and BWI stations to Hunt Valley were delayed by 15 to 20 minutes Monday morning due to a disabled train, according to the Maryland Transit Administration. A light rail train and a truck collided downtown Tuesday, a Maryland Transportation Authority spokesman said. The crash occurred just after 2 p.m. near the intersection of Howard and Lombard streets, said spokesman Terry Owens. The truck driver was taken to an unknown hospital, but Owens said he did not believe his injuries to be serious. He said he did not know how many passengers were on the train but he said no serious injuries were reported. The cause if the crash is unclear.

A 40-year-old deaf woman was struck by a Light Rail train Friday night at South Howard and West Camden streets, a Maryland Transit Administration spokesman said. The unidentified woman was standing near the Convention Center stop with a companion at about 8:20 p.m. when she stepped out in front of the northbound train, said Terry Owens, spokesman with the Maryland Transit Administration. He said the train operator sounded the horn, but the woman did not hear it and she did not see the train because she had her back to it. The women was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma for non-life-threatening head injuries, Owens said.

A woman died Monday after she was struck by a northbound light rail train on the Central Maryland corridor just north of Lutherville. Maryland Transit Administration spokesman Terry Owens said the woman was struck around 7:15 a.m. on the tracks and pronounced dead at the scene. Owens said he could not provide information about the identity of the victim or why she was crossing the tracks, but he noted that she was not near a light rail stop when she was hit. Baltimore County Police Detective Cathy Batton said the woman has not been positively identified.

A light-rail train and a vehicle collided at the intersection of Howard and Lexington streets in Baltimore on Tuesday, a Maryland Transit Administration spokesman said. A car turned into the path of a train around 3:56 p.m., said MTA spokesman Terry Owens. He said one light rail rider claimed injury but refused treatment when medics arrived. The driver of the vehicle was not injured, he said. Service was delayed for about a half-hour until the medic arrived, Owens said. The driver of the vehicle is believed to be at fault, he said, but added that the crash was still under investigation.

A light-rail train heading to the new downtown stadium struck the door of a car parked along Dolphin Street yesterday afternoon, shattering its window but causing no injury.Lawrence M. Engleman, Mass Transit Administration safety director, said the driver of a 1981 Buick parked along Dolphin Street near Howard Street was opening the car's door as the train approached from behind.The train's operator slowed but could not stop in time, Mr. Engleman said.L The impact dented the door and caused the window to shatter.
