Baltimore-based apparel manufacturer Under Armour announced fourth-quarter profits of $506 million, representing a 25 percent increase from the same period in 2011. The company also announced its full-year revenues of $1.835 billion represented a 25 percent increase, year over year. "We closed 2012 strongly, delivering net revenue growth of at least 20% for the eleventh consecutive quarter in Q4 by building upon key apparel technology platforms like Storm Fleece and Charged Cotton," Under Armour founder and CEO Kevin Plank said in a statement.

T. Rowe Price Group on Tuesday reported a $232 million profit for the fourth quarter, a 23 percent increase from a year earlier. The Baltimore-based investment firm earned 88 cents a share for the quarter ended Dec. 31. That's up from 73 cents a share a year earlier, but still a penny less than analysts expected. Revenue reached $787.3 million for the quarter, compared with $671.6 million the year before. This, too, was slightly below analysts' expectations. Price shares fell sharply in early trading, but recovered somewhat to close Tuesday at $71.61, down 57 cents a share.

In a game marred by 63 penalty minutes -- 42 of which were against the home team -- the Baltimore Bombers suffered their first-ever loss Sunday afternoon, 20-9 to the Boston Rockhoppers at Du Burns Arena. The Rockhoppers (3-1) scored nine straight goals to break open a tied game at the half and take sole possession of first place in the North American Lacrosse League, dropping the Bombers to 2-1. Bombers coach Hunter Francis was displeased with his team's effort. āBefore the game I felt we were focused and calm.

Pro lacrosse Rabil scores first as a Wing in 16-8 loss to Roughnecks Paul Rabil (Johns Hopkins) scored his first goal as a member of the Philadelphia Wings, then added two more, but the hosts lost to the Calgary Roughnecks, 16-8, before an announced 15,103 on Sunday at Wells Fargo Center. The Wings (2-2) were held scoreless in the first quarter and trailed 8-2 at the half. Rabil, a transition player, added a pair of assists. The Blast scored in bunches on Friday night and there were far too many for the Rochester Lancers to keep up. Micros Systems Inc. reported Thursday it earned $44.1 million in the second quarter ended in December, about a 15 percent increase from a year earlier. On a per share basis, the Columbia company earned 54 cents, compared with 47 cents a year earlier. Micros, a supplier of information systems to the hospitality and retail industries, also reported revenue rose by 20 percent in the quarter to $324.5 million from a year ago. On Tuesday, the company's board of directors approved the repurchase of 2 million shares of Micros common stock.

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco quickly came to a realization Sunday night while trailing the New England Patriots at halftime of the AFC championship game. It was a realization shared by coach John Harbaugh . Flacco was adamant in his belief that the AFC North champions needed to become much more aggressive in the passing game. During the second half of a 28-13 victory that propelled them to the Super Bowl, the Ravens attacked the Patriots' secondary as Flacco delivered three second-half touchdown passes.

Ravens strong safety Bernard Pollard lived up to his intimidatingĀ reputation as one of the hardest hitters in the NFL, knocking New England Patriots running back Stevan Ridley out of Sunday's AFC championship game with a devastating fourth-quarter tackle. During the Ravens' 28-13 AFC victory at Gillette Stadium, Ridley was down on the ground for several scary minutes before finally walking off the field under his own power. "Bernard, man, he's a hitter," Ravens free safety Ed Reed said.

As head of the Greater Baltimore Committee's Leadership Program since 1989, he has helped groom some of the state's up-and-coming leaders through a 10-month-long series of site visits and conversations that help them examine the city in all its complexity. Mr. Houbolt will retire in December, so this year's class, his 25th, will be his last. The Chicago Soul broke an 8-8 tie late in the fourth quarter and upset the visiting Blast, 13-8, on Friday night. Carlos Farias scored a 3-point goal at 12:49 to put Chicago up, then Matt Stewart put the game away at 14:51. Pat Healey had tied the score at 8 at 7:28 of the quarter. The Blast's only lead came when Adauto Neto, playing in his 100th game for the team, put Baltimore up 2-0 in the second quarter. The Blast (12-3) will play today at 5 p.m. at Milwaukee (10-2) in a showdown for first place.
