Stan Honey has spent much of the past two decades living a double life - as a computer graphics innovator who made televised sports more easily watchable for the casual fan and as a master yachtsman who navigated large boats to a long list of nautical accomplishments. Honey (pronounced HO-nee), who was inducted this month into the National Sailing Hall of Fame, has finally been able to combine his two seemingly unrelated passions - given that one is usually accomplished sitting in an office while the other takes place on the open seas - in what he has called a "perfect job. " For the past couple of years, Honey has been working with the U.S. organizing committee of the 2013 America's Cup as its technical director, and has helped develop a tracking system, in much the same way he has done for fans watching football, baseball and hockey.

Whatever you do, don't choke...especially if it's during the biggest audition of your life. This week at William McKinley High, glee club's superstar standouts, Rachel and Kurt, audition in front of Carmen (played by guest star Whoopi Goldberg) for the New York Academy of the Dramatic Arts, aka NYADA, aka the school of their dreams. Rachel advises Kurt to play it safe with his song choice and stick to "Music of the Night" from "Phantom of the Opera;" however, in last-minute effort to be bold, daring and unique, Kurt wows Carmen with his rendition of "Not the Boy Next Door" from "The Boy from Oz. " Carmen said even Hugh Jackman, who won a Tony award for his performance in the musical, would've impressed with Kurt's audition.

LANDOVER -- The Washington Capitals managed to stuff every emotion possible into their encounter with the Pittsburgh Penguins last night. But the one that was most lasting was dejection after the Penguins pulled out a 3-2 overtime victory when goalie Jim Carey tried to do too much. With 2:12 to go in the overtime, Jaromir Jagr was being covered by Mark Tinordi as he circled behind the Caps' net. Instead of holding his position in front of the net and following the play to the far post, Carey skated around the near post and tried to poke the puck from Jagr's stick.

CHICAGO -- Construction is well under way on a new Chicago Stadium across from the Blackhawks' historic and raucous home on 1800 West Madison St., and that can only be good news for the Washington Capitals and the rest of the NHL.The Caps' 6-2 loss last night was their sixth straight at the stadium. All-Star goalie Ed Belfour, in a 37-save performance, and a handful of defensive miscues were the responsible culprits."They might want to delay construction for the next couple of years," Capitals coach Terry Murray said of the Blackhawks, who are 14-3-4 at home with Belfour in goal.

The defeat dropped Baltimore out of first place in the Southern Division, as the Adirondack Red Wings, who beat the Cape Breton Oilers, 6-4, moved one point in front of the Jacks.

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The Baltimore Skipjacks' 7-4 loss to the Binghamton Rangers last night fits an ugly pattern.A bad bounce, a debatable call and the Skipjacks are now winless in eight games (0-7-1)."I've seen strange games all year long," Baltimore coach Rob Laird said. "I can't tell you how excruciating it has been. I've had more of these games this year than in my entire [coaching] career."Down two goals in the second period, the Rangers scored five third-period goals to rally for the win.Joe Paterson scored on a two-on-one break for a 4-3 Binghamton lead at 5 minutes, 42 seconds of the third.
