Anna B. George, a church secretary who enjoyed celebrating her German heritage, died Friday of melanoma at Stella Maris Hospice. She was 79. The daughter of George Braml, an Esskay meat cutter, and Anna Eder Braml, a homemaker, Anna Braml was born in Baltimore and raised in the city's Parkside neighborhood. She attended the Shrine of the Little Flower and graduated in 1952 from Catholic High School. "She had perfect attendance for four years. She was very, very proud of that," said her daughter, Terri Prokopik of Towson.

The Awana Club at Prince of Peace Baptist Church in Fallston recently presented five of the highest awards given in the Awana organization. Citation awards are presented only to high school seniors and adults. For each recipient, this represents 10 years of work and includes the memorization of 800 to 1,000 verses as well as many hours of study and service activities.

On June 24, 2004, JACK KIRTLAND, 58, at Franklin Square Hospital after a brief illness. Son of Catharine Wheelar. Born in Ohio, he received a B.A. from Moorehead College in KY in 1969 and M.A. at Morgan State in 1975. He was a member of the Blue Key Honor Society. Jack retired from the Baltimore County Public Schools in 2000 after teaching history for 32 years. He held positions at Deep Creek JHS, Chesapeake HS and Catonsville HS. Jack enjoyed coaching the Chesapeake Bayhawks Baseball team for 20 years, and continued his love of the game as an umpire.
