I did not think I'd ever see a better medical documentary series than the Emmy-Award-winning “Hopkins 24/7” that aired in 2000 or its sequel, “Hopkins,” which won a Peabody Award in 2008. The backstage access, immediacy and range of gripping real-life drama that ABCNews Executive Producer Terence Wrong and his team captured at Baltimore's world-renowned medical institution were landmark. But with “NY Med,” which premieres at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Wrong surpasses his earlier work in terms of prime-time storytelling without sacrificing any of the cultural seriousness or grand reach of the Hopkins series.

Patrons at Tark's Grill were eating in the dining room and drinking at the bar when the ferocious storm struck Friday night and the Brooklandville restaurant went dark. The Green Spring Station establishment was among many Baltimore-area eateries and grocery stores that not only lost prime weekend business but also merchandise — food that went bad in the heat. Tark's reopened Monday with a limited menu and estimated losses of at least $25,000, owner Bill Shriver said. "We had no ice and nowhere to get ice — try opening a restaurant with no ice," Shriver said.

If Orioles fans are lucky, it will be this way for another 3 1/2 months. The Orioles have a chance to win their fourth series in a row if Wei-Yin Chen can pitch half as well against the Atlanta Braves on Sunday as Jason Hammel did on Saturday night. That would be a pretty big deal after the way they struggled through late May and early June, but -- let's face it - in the American League East, you can't let down for a second. This is the division where you can win eight of your last 11 (as the Orioles have)

A Baltimore circus-arts instructor and her students are at Niagara Falls today, where they'll be helping to prime the live audience for Friday's televised walk across the falls by high-wire artist Nik Wallenda. "It's going to be chaotic," Erica Saben, founder of Charm City Movement Arts, said Friday morning after arriving at Niagara Falls the previous afternoon. "I hope we'll get a good spot to watch the walk ourselves. We'll have to see how big the media hype is. " Wallenda's family has been walking high wires as the Flying Wallendas for generations.

Anthony Bourdain will join CNN in 2013, the network announced today. The chef, author, actor will host a weekend show focused on food, travel and 'cultures'. CNN has been under much corporate pressure to do something about its ratings, and the news of this hire is that it moves CNN off the news model it has been following for decades. It also appears to cede journalistic control as the show being produced outside CNN. It will be fascinating to see what this means about CNN's commitment to journalism.

Greenberg potato skins, Greenberg potato skins, Greenberg potato skins ... jackpot! The Prime Rib is coming to the Maryland Live Casino — Greenberg potato skins, leopard-skin carpeting, baby grand piano and all. Established in Baltimore in 1965 by brothers Buzz and Nick Beler, the Prime Rib has is now a bona fide dining institution, with additional locations in Washington and Philadelphia. Attracting the Prime Rib to Maryland Live is a coup for the Baltimore-based Cordish Cos., which had originally announced that the casino's premier steak house would be Ruth's Chris . "The Prime Rib kept coming up in internal conversations and on surveys," said Cordish managing partner Joe Weinberg, who is overseeing the casino's design, construction and operations.

For the second week in a row, Baltimore got some prime-time, Sunday-night love on high-end cable TV. Two weeks ago, Lutherville got a mention on "Mad Men. " Granted, it was a throwaway line, but a mention is a mention in self-conscious Baltimore -- and its north county cousins. This Sunday, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco and running back Ray Rice got the shoutout on HBO's "VEEP," which is made in Maryland. The mention came when Vice President Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus)

In 1988, the Honky Tonk Man lost the Intercontinental title to the Ultimate Warrior in 31 seconds. Honky Tonk would never reach that level of success in the WWE again, while the Ultimate Warrior was catapulted into the main event, winning the WWE title less than two years later. In 2012, Daniel Bryan lost the World Heavyweight championship to Sheamus in 18 seconds. But the rest of this story isn't a repeat of the Honky Tonk Man in 1988. Instead, something completely different happened.
