A 10-year-veteran correctional officer at Baltimore City Detention Center was arrested while on duty yesterday and charged with possession of marijuana, said a spokeswoman for the state-run facility.According to Barbara A. Cooper, another guard was in an inmate dormitory section of the prison system's industries building in the 500 block of E. Madison St., where he was returning a handcuff case to the suspect's gym bag about 3 p.m., when he noticed a small plastic bag containing marijuana and reported it to a supervisor.

A Westminster man and New Windsor woman were arrested late Wednesday on marijuana-distribution charges after police stopped a vehicle and seized five bags of suspected marijuana, smoking paraphernalia, $495 and suspected transaction records.The vehicle was stopped near Magna Way and Old Bachmans Valley Road, police said.Charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia were Heather N. Almony, 19, of the 2200 block of Bowersox Road in New Windsor and David R. Dragani, 42, of the 2200 block of Snydersburg Road in Westminster, police said.

Three Annapolis men were arrested on drug charges in two incidents early Monday, city police said yesterday.Talmadge Brown, 44, of the 200 block of Eastern Avenue, was charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine after an officer stopped him at 2 a.m. in the 1700 block of Forest Drive for speeding, police said.According to police, the officer noticed two partially rolled marijuana cigarettes in the ash tray when he approached Brown's car. In a subsequent search, the officer also found a matchbook containing cocaine under the floor mat, police said.

Three Westminster High School students were arrested yesterday on marijuana charges after troopers searched the juveniles' vehicles parked near the school, state police said. State police received an anonymous call at 7: 30 a.m. about possible drug activity on Marydell Drive, a block north of the high school, said Sgt. Andrew Winner. School officials were contacted, and troopers responded with assistance from the Carroll County Drug Task Force, a sheriff's police dog unit and a prosecutor from the state's attorney's office.

Acting on a tip, law enforcement officials with the Frederick County Narcotics Task Force arrested a Union Bridge man late Tuesday afternoon, after seizing 10 pounds of marijuana and $3,000 in cash at a rural home near the Carroll County border, officials said.Roger Wayne Bell, 47, of 12306 Coppermine Road, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, manufacture of marijuana, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, officials said.Charges of maintaining a public nuisance were pending, said Jerry F. Barnes, Frederick County's chief narcotics prosecutor and legal liaison to the task force.

Indictments are issuedWESTMINSTER -- A Carroll grand jury indicted a city businesswoman on several counts of drug possession and distribution.The four-count indictments, handed down June 19, charge Pamela S. Davis and her adult son, David K. Davis, with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, keeping and maintaining a common nuisance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.The charges carry a total of up to 12 years in jail and fines of more than $6,000.

An anonymous call reporting drug dealing at a McDonald's restaurant in Westminster resulted in the arrests of four Carroll County residents on marijuana--related charges, authorities said. State troopers arriving at the McDonald's lot at Route 140 and Gorsuch Road Wednesday evening observed a white 1992 Plymouth with a door open and a man walking from the car to a maroon vehicle parked nearby, said Trooper Robert Schoenberger of the state police barracks in Westminster. A driver and two passengers were seen in the Plymouth, police said.

Four men and a woman were arrested Thursday night during a raid at a Pasadena home that yielded 4 1/4 pounds of marijuana and more than $450, police said.Eastern District officers obtained a warrant for the house in the 100 block of Linden Ave. after a two-month investigation that started with a tip to the department's drug hot line.Officers raided the house about 10:30 p.m. In addition to the drugs and money, they said they found pipes, several scales and tally sheets used for drug sales.

Two men fatally shot in separate incidents yesterday in the city An unidentified man was fatally shot yesterday afternoon outside a Brooklyn apartment building, and another died last night in a double shooting on the east side, city police reported. Southern District officers responding to a report that a man had been shot in the 1000 block of Bristol Place about 12:30 p.m. found the victim lying in nearby woods bleeding from multiple wounds, police said. The man, who appeared to be in his mid-20s and had no identification, was taken by ambulance to Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
