A Severn man arrived home early Wednesday to find an intruder on crutches rummaging through the night stand in his bedroom. According to the police account, as the alleged burglar tried to hobble past, Henry E. Rey grabbed one of the crutches, tripping the man, and held him for police.Rey, 47, told police he arrived home about 12: 30 a.m. and found the burglar. Police said they searched the man and found his pockets filled with a dozen necklaces, three rings and nine pairs of earrings taken from the night stand drawer.

A Chartwell man startled a prowler who had walked into his garage early Friday, chased him until he jumped into a truck, then got part of the license tag number and reported it to county police, who arrested two suspects a few miles away.Clifford Andrew, of the 100 block of St. Andrews Road, told police he got home from work shortly after 2 a.m. and left his garage door open to take out the trash when he saw a man walk through his garage and open a door to his home.Andrew startled the man, who ran down the block to a dark-colored truck that was waiting for him, police said.

County police arrested a Glen Burnie man on drug charges Thursday after an officer stopped him for erratic driving, police said.An officer stopped a 1992 Acura late Thursday after he saw it spinning wheels at Belle Grove Road and Hoffman Avenue, police said.As he approached the car, the officer smelled marijuana, police said.The officer searched the car and found a loaded handgun between the driver's seat and front console, and what was later determined to be 6.6 grams of crack cocaine and 5.5 grams of marijuana, police said.

Startled by employees, an armed man trying to rob a Brooklyn Park McDonald's restaurant Wednesday fled before he got any money.County police said he ran out a rear door.An employee told police that when he went to clean the bathroom at the restaurant in the 5000 block of Ritchie Highway, he found a man hiding behind the door.The man pulled out a gold-colored revolver, shoved it in the clerk's side and ordered him to open the safe as they walked to the front of the restaurant.Two other workers, hearing their colleague scream, confronted the gunman before he got to the front, police said.

A county police officer stopped a truck in Freetown for a traffic violation Tuesday and arrested the driver on drug charges after he searched her purse and found marijuana, crack cocaine and a metal smoking pipe, police said.Shortly after 6: 30 p.m., Officer Michael J. Galligan stopped a woman driving a black Toyota truck near the intersection of Freetown and New Freetown roads because the truck did not have a front license plate, police said.When Galligan checked the woman's driver's license, he learned that Prince George's County had issued a warrant for the woman's arrest on unspecified charges.

County police arrested a Glen Burnie man Thursday on charges of threatening a neighbor couple with a pitchfork.Larry Thornton, 42, of the 7700 block of Hartwell Road was rTC charged with assault, police said.Police said a man carrying a pitchfork approached David Payne, who was in his yard in the 7700 block of Hartwell Road, about 9 p.m. and threatened to stab him. When the man also approached Payne's wife, who was not identified by police, Payne grabbed the pitchfork and threw it, then went into the house and called police.

A Brooklyn Park man was robbed at gunpoint early yesterday of his wallet and $190 as he used a pay telephone at a sandwich shop, county police said.Edwin L. Nempomicno, 29, told police he was using the phone outside Charlie Ward's at Fourth and Audrey avenues shortly after midnight when four men approached and demanded his wallet. One of the men showed a .38-caliber black handgun stuffed into his waistband, police said, but Nempomicno refused to give up his wallet. The gunman punched Nempomicno in the mouth and took his wallet, police said.

A woman was treated for a broken nose and her husband was arrested Saturday after a fight at their Glen Burnie home, county police said.Valerie L. Owens, 38, told police that her husband arrived at their home in the 400 block of Brooks Court shortly after 3 a.m. and tried to pick a fight with her while she was watching television.She said she told him to leave, but he grabbed her by the shoulders and butted her nose with his head, police said.Owens said the man threatened to kill her when she called the police.
