A two-vehicle collision has partially closed the westbound side of Philadelphia Road near the Baltimore Beltway, according to state transportation information. Earlier, the road had been completey blocked but was partly open again by 8:25 a.m. Local MTA buses, the light rail and subway are running on a regular weekday schedule; the MARC Penn line is running on the Saturday timetable; and the MARC Camden line is closed for the Columbus Day holiday.

As of 9 a.m. Thursday, icy conditions have been reported around Philadelphia Road and Golden Ring Road in Rosedale, where a broken water main is being repaired. There were no major delays reported on Baltimore area transit systems.

A man was robbed of his cell phone during an attack in Rosedale last week. According to Baltimore County police, a man was walking at a bus stop at around 8:30 p.m. Feb. 6 near Fontana Lane and Philadelphia Road when he was approached by two men who grabbed his hood, pulled it over his head and struck him. The man attempted to fight back, but his attackers knocked him to the ground, according to the police report. The suspects then took a cell phone from the man's pants' pocket and fled the scene.

A Baltimore man whom police say appeared to be under the influence of alcohol was hit by a car and killed as he walked along Philadelphia Road in Joppa late Tuesday evening. The accident happened around 8 p.m. on Philadelphia Road (Route 7) between Mountain Road (Route 152) and Clayton Road, according to a Maryland State Police press release. Troopers said Jack Franklin Watson, 61, of the 2000 block of Frames Road in Baltimore, was walking in the westbound traffic lane of Philadelphia Road east of Mountain Road, wearing dark, non-reflective clothing, according to the release.

An unidentified pedestrian was killed last night when he was hit by a pickup truck in a hit-and-run incident on Philadelphia Road near Gunpowder Falls in Bradshaw, Baltimore County police said.The man was walking north in the southbound lane of Philadelphia Road near Forge Road about 9: 30 p.m. when he was struck by a white Ford F-150 pickup, police said.He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.Witnesses told police that the driver did not stop. Police said the vehicle will have damage to its front and right passenger side.

One person was killed in a Baltimore County car crash and another was taken to the hospital in serious condition Wednesday evening, fire department officials said. The driver killed in the crash is believed to have been driving the wrong way into oncoming traffic in the eastbound lanes of the 8100 block of Philadelphia Road in Rosedale about 6 p.m. The car struck another car head-on, and the driver of the other car was injured. Two other cars were involved in the crash, but the drivers were not injured.

After years of searching, a Harford County coalition of faith and civic groups given the task of finding a permanent homeless shelter site has chosen county-owned property on Philadelphia Road in Joppa, creating hope for the county's homeless, who have been shuttled among local churches since 1999 to find refuge. But the choice has raised concerns for the community, which has two other group homes. A 38-bed shelter for men, women and children is planned for the property, between Blossom Drive and Raspe Lane.

Two men have been charged in connection with numerous thefts of air conditioning/heat pump units and commercial grade kitchen equipment from several businesses and homes along the Route 40 corridor. Donald James Fruhling, 48, of the 1100 block of Shady Drive in Edgewood, and William Antoine Edmonds, 42, of the 700 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard in Baltimore, have each been charged with four counts of theft between $1,000 and $10,000 and theft scheme between $1,000 and $10,000.

A Joppa man with an extensive criminal history was accused of threatening a relative with a handgun and choking her Saturday night, according to charging documents. Baraat Bin Warthen, 34, of the 100 block of Philadelphia Road, allegedly confronted the woman at about 10:30 p.m. at the same address after she tried to leave "due to activities that were ongoing at the residence," according to the statement of charges. The statement said the woman told police the next morning that when she tried to recover some items, Warthen put a gun to her head and asked, "Are you gonna snitch on me, [expletive]

Two Annapolis streets closed Friday morning due to flooding: Compromise Street between St. Mary's Street and Memorial Street. Dock Street is also closed, said Annapolis Police Sergeant Eric Crane. As of 8:45 a.m. Friday, Philadelphia Road near Maryland Route 136 in Harford County, remained closed in both directions for debris in the road, according to state highway officials. Also in Harford County, Maryland Route 165, north of Dooley Road, was closed in both directions for debris blocking the road.

A 21-year-old woman was taken to a regional trauma center with serious injuries following a single vehicle accident in Joppa Friday night, according to the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company. Just after 10 p.m. Friday, units from fire company's Joppa, Joppatowne and Edgewood stations were dispatched to Route 7 (Philadelphia Road) and Joppa Farm Road for a motor vehicle collision, according to the fire company's public information officer. The first arriving unit reported a single vehicle accident with the driver still inside.

As of 9 a.m. Thursday, traffic was slow on the inner loop of I-695 near Falls Road, due to an accident involving four vehicles. Accidents were slowing traffic on U.S. 50 eastbound at Route 424 in Anne Arundel County, Golden Ring Road and Philadelphia Road in Baltimore County, Route 108 at Homewood Road in Ellicott City, and Dunmanway Way at Merritt Boulevard in Baltimore County. Debris in the road was blocking traffic on U.S. 50 westbound at the Bay Bridge. Light Street was closed between Baltimore and Lombard streets due to water main repairs.
