Reality TV makes strange bedfellows - especially on a tattoo competition show. Don Peddicord, 30, co-owner of Tattoo Dynasty in Joppa, met New York-based tattoo artist Erik Suida during a casting call for Season 2 of the Spike tat competition show, "Ink Master. " "We actually waited in line together for about six hours and he just kind of rubbed me the wrong way from the beginning," Peddicord said. "I just never really cared for his attitude about things. " But after several years of social media "bashing," Suida called on Peddicord to be his rival for the show's fifth season, "Ink Master Rivals," now airing at 10 p.m. Tuesdays.

When Thomas J. Peddicord, the Baltimore County Council's legal counsel and secretary, announced plans to retire this month, he ratcheted up anxiety on the panel, which is grappling with several high-profile departures. Some of that concern evaporated Thursday when Peddicord opted to stay the job he's held for nearly two decades. Mary Allen, the Baltimore County auditor for 12 years, retired June 30, and only three of seven County Council members are seeking re-election this fall; two others are retiring, and another two are battling for the Democratic nomination for county executive.

Bassler, of Ellicott City, MD, Betty Lee Crane, of Boyton Beach, FL, John H. Peddicord, Jr., of Martinsburg, WV, and the late Watson C. Peddicord. Ms. Peddicord is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two grandchildren.

Ross Peddicord, handicapper and horse racing writer for The Evening Sun, finished seventh among 258 contestants in the American Championship Racing Series Media Handicapping Challenge.In the 10-race contest, Peddicord correctly picked four winners, two seconds, one third and one fifth-place finisher. The top four handicappers divided $15,000 in prize money, and the champion was Erin Ladd-Robinson of the Jockey Club in Lexington, Ky. She picked five winners.Peddicord was one of two contestants from the Baltimore-Washington area to finish in the top 25 of the national event.

E. Edward Houghton, a prominent thoroughbred horse breeder and fox hunter, died Sunday of pulmonary fibrosis at Buckingham Farm, his Chestertown home. He was 67. Mr. Houghton was born in Somerville, N.J., and raised in Colorado and Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of Conestoga High School in Berwyn, Pa., and earned a bachelor's degree in agriculture from Pennsylvania State University. Mr. Houghton was farm manager at Happy Hill Farm, a thoroughbred breeding farm in Newtown Square, Pa., from 1960 to 1964.

Emma Baker Peddicord, a Howard County church and community volunteer, died of a stroke Monday at Country Companions Assisted Living in Taneytown. She was 97. Born Emma Baker in Whitesburg, Tenn., she moved with her parents to a 500-acre farm in Howard County called Mount Hebron, now the site of Mount Hebron High School. Her daughter Barbara P. Dawson of Columbia said her mother arrived by train in 1920 with eight siblings, household goods, farm equipment, milking cows and other livestock at the rail depot in Ellicott City.

It's a very tough thing to make a living at. If I hadn't gotten into computers, I'd be a starving artist," said Gary Peddicord, a popular Howard County-based artist who loves to paint historic sites in Elkridge such as Wesley Grove United Methodist Church, the Thomas Viaduct and the Brumbaugh House. Peddicord has earned his living since 1985 as a senior graphics designer, using computers in his work with the defense-contracting industry. Living with his wife, Linda, in the oldest townhouse development in Elkridge, where his ancestors settled in the early 1700s, he has had a front-row seat as subtle changes came to historical buildings.
