On July 31, 2003 GIOVANNI PECORA beloved husband of the late Anna A. (nee Fico); devoted father of Rose Pecora, Mike Pecora, Frank Pecora, Pat Pecora and Albert Pecora. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Family will receive friends at the family owned Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 York Road (Beltway Exit 26A) on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Isaac Jogues Church, Carney on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Entombment Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.

Anne K. Pecora, a lawyer and retired University of Baltimore law professor whose legal practice encompassed elder law, environmental protection and civil rights, died Dec. 15 of a brain hemorrhage at Maryland General Hospital. She was 62. Anne Kluge was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and raised in Orlando, Fla., and Severna Park. She was a 1964 graduate of Severna Park High School and earned a bachelor's degree in political science and economics from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1968.

Giovanni Pecora, who founded several restaurants bearing his name, died Thursday of complications of heart disease at his Parkville home. He was 92. Born in Cosenza, Italy, he immigrated to Baltimore in 1954 and worked as a chef at Illona's Restaurant in East Baltimore. In 1959, he opened a restaurant on St. Helena Avenue in Dundalk. He later opened businesses in the 3300 block of Greenmount Ave. in Waverly, on York Road in Towson and at Mountain and Belair roads in Fallston. He retired in 1976.

The Coast Guard's newest and largest vessel pulled into the Fells Point pier yesterday, part of a national tour that federal homeland security officials say marks a watershed in the service's ability to patrol the nation's waters. The Bertholf, the first of the Coast Guard's national security cutters, is longer than a football field and stands nearly five stories tall. The biggest ship ever in the Coast Guard, it's built to do it all: search and rescue, drug busts, immigration patrol and battle.

John Jay Pecora, a civil engineer who founded a Mount Vernon-based construction company and was active in his industry's professional circles, died Sunday of complications from cancer and Alzheimer's disease at Stella Maris Hospice. The Roland Park resident was 89. Born in Baltimore and raised on Eldorado Avenue, he was a 1935 graduate of Forest Park High School. He earned a degree in civil engineering from the Johns Hopkins University and taught the subject while serving in the Army during World War II. Soon after his military service, he founded Allied Contractors - naming it for the war's allied forces.
