Christen De Marco, daughter of Fred De Marco and Nancy De Marco, both of Ellicott City, MD, was wed to Paul Murphy, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Daniel Murphy, of Sterling, MA, on September 18. The bride holds a Bachelor's degree from Dickinson College and is pursuing a Master's in Marketing from The Johns Hopkins University. She is a Marketing Manager at Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins. The groom holds a Bachelor's degree in Communications from Lynchburg College. He is a Sales Representative for Webster Vet Supply.

Douglas E. Murphy Sr., a retired systems analyst for the Social Security Administration, died Wednesday of complications from pancreatic cancer at Joseph Richey Hospice in Baltimore. The Hamilton resident was 61. Born in Scranton, Pa., Mr. Murphy moved with his family to Baltimore when he was 10. He graduated from City College in 1959 and started to work for the Social Security Administration. He also attended night school at the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude in 1966, his family said.

Standing in front of his closed Oriental Spa massage parlor in Elkridge, a jittery Sung Yul "Peter" Kim lit a cigarette from the pack he kept in his left sock, gestured at the white Mercedes he had just retrieved from the Howard County police and proclaimed his innocence in halting English. "No, I'm not guilty. Really, I don't know U.S. law," the 65-year old Fort Lee, N.J., resident said, referring to accusations that he tried to pay a state inspector and two Howard County police officers for false documents and to have them lean on his competitors in the U.S. 1 corridor.

Brian R. Murphy, a Social Security Administration senior technical adviser and Army veteran, died Friday of cancer at Gilchrist Hospice Care in Towson. The lifelong Hamilton resident was 59. The son of a Baltimore Life Insurance Co. regional manager and a homemaker, Brian Robertson Murphy was born in Scranton, Pa., and raised in Hamilton. He attended Northern High School and later earned his general educational development diploma. Mr. Murphy studied biology at Morgan State University before enlisting in the Army in 1974, where he served with the 82nd Airborne and attained the rank of sergeant.

Margaret R. Murphy, a homemaker and longtime member of Hamilton Presbyterian Church, died Saturday at the Brightwood nursing home in Lutherville of complications from Alzheimer's disease. She was 92. She was born Margaret Angie Robertson and raised in Dunmore, Pa. In 1938, she married Paul James Murphy. The couple moved to Royston Avenue in 1952. Mr. Murphy, a district manager for the Baltimore Insurance Co., died in 1979. Mrs. Murphy taught Sunday school at Hamilton Presbyterian Church, where she had been president of the women's association.

The trial of an Elkridge massage parlor operator accused of trying to bribe a state inspector and two Howard County police officers has been set for July 12. Court officials also set a June 3 hearing date for motions filed on behalf of Sung Yul Kim, 65, of Fort Lee, N.J. He is free on $100,000 bond. Kim, the owner of the Oriental Spa in the 6300 block of Washington Blvd., was arrested in February after an investigation that spanned more than a year. He is accused of offering bribes to state inspector Paul Murphy, who alerted authorities, according to prosecutors.
