When you've spent your entire life taking care of everyone else's needs, what happens when you reach 60 and you have no one to worry about?"Women Over 60 -- Surviving and Thriving" is the name of a program under the supervision of Anne Spear, retired director of the county's Family and Children's Services bureau. Classes are slated to begin at 12:30 p.m Wednesday, Feb. 20, at the Pascal Senior Center."Women in this age group have been caring for others their entirelife, now it's their time," Spear said.

Workshops set for caregivers The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities is offering a series of three caregiver workshops at area senior centers. Mary Fridley, a nurse and elder care expert with the county, will lead the three National Family Caregiver Support programs: "Is There Help Out There? Resources and Services," "Elder Speak: When a Loved One Won't Listen" and "I'm Not Waving, I'm Drowning: Emotions and Coping Skills." Workshop details: Pasadena Senior Center, 4103 Mountain Road: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. May 14, 21 and 28. Brooklyn Park center lists events Brooklyn Park Senior Center, 202 Hammonds Lane, Brooklyn Park, will hold the following events in May: A word search challenge will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

Glen Burnie resident Howard Smith knows life doesn't end at retirement, and he has the videotape to prove it.For the past year, the 68-year-old retired Baltimore Gas and Electric supervisor and nine other seniors from Pascal Senior Center have videotaped events at area senior centers -- everything from bazaars, ceramics classes and dance classes to fairs and much more.Their efforts will culminate in a 10- or 30-minute segment, highlighting activities of the Department of Aging, which will air on Jones Intercable's Channel 42 early next month.

Annapolis center announces trips for this year Annapolis Senior Center, 1027 Bay Ridge Ave., has announced its trip schedule. An intensive search for a 72-year-old man who disappeared from Robert A. Pascal Senior Center in Glen Burnie early Wednesday ended when he was found at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore last night. "We're real relieved," said Ed Thomas, 80, a volunteer at Pascal. Although family members were glad Herbert Sturgeon was found safe, they questioned why center officials had failed to notice that he was missing for five hours. The incident raised questions about the responsibility of publicly run senior centers to oversee elderly visitors.

Their performance is like a Broadway variety show, say members of the Pascal Go-Getters senior ensemble. The acclaimed local group - now celebrating its 25th year - includes singers, dancers, storytellers and harmonica, drum, piano, guitar, spoon and tub players. The 20-some members pack the Pascal Senior Center's professional theater twice a week from September to February. They are among several local amateur troupes who are stepping out of senior centers to perform for the public - and having the time of their lives.
