Police have charged an 18-year-old man with the murder of Charles W. George of Parkville, who was kicked and beaten to death on New Year's Eve while walking near his home.Mr. George, 52, who worked at a state employment office, was Baltimore County's 35th homicide victim of 1993.He was found lying in the street near the intersection of Putty Hill Avenue and Harford Road at about 10:30 p.m., and declared dead at Franklin Square Hospital about an hour later.Douglas William Taylor, who lives on the 600 block of Dembytown Road in Joppa, was charged with first-degree murder in the incident.

A Baltimore County man orchestrated a drug deal to rob a 22-year-old who was found shot to death in the back seat of his Chevrolet Impala in Parkville last week, police said. DeAngelo Devonne Johnson, 24, of the first block of Delight Ave. in Nottingham, was charged Wednesday with armed robbery and first-degree murder. Police said Johnson had arranged to buy a quarter-pound of marijuana from Miguiel Anthony Bailey when he and Linwood Tymais Smith allegedly robbed and shot Bailey on June 12. Smith was charged earlier with first-degree murder and armed robbery in the incident.

A 19-year-old Parkville man has been arrested in the robbery and assault of an 88-year-old woman and the sexual assault of two other women in three separate incidents near Carney, according to Baltimore County police. Jordan Snyder, of the 3200 block of East Joppa Road, was arrested Oct. 31 for the robbery and assault, and a warrant was issued for the two sexual assault charges Nov. 6, after police were able to link him to the two incidents, according to police and court records.

A 22-year-old student from Parkville who planned a career in foreign service died Friday in a car accident in Morocco near Rabat, her family said. Kelly DallaTezza, who was born in Baltimore, was in northern Africa and had recently participated in a Fulbright conference on women's political roles in Bahrain. Her family said she had been accepted for graduate study at Harvard University and the Johns Hopkins University, among other schools. She was the daughter of Chester and Meg Doxzen DallaTezza and had been salutatorian of her 2007 class at Towson High School.

A Parkville couple accused of treating a 15-year-old girl from North Carolina as their personal sex "slave" and filming and distributing videos online of their sexual interactions with her have each been indicted on more than a dozen state and federal sex abuse charges. The federal indictment, made this month, includes charges of producing and distributing child pornography, and transporting the girl across state lines for sexual reasons. John Andrew Blaes, 48, and Margaret Ellen Jones, 36, met online in 2010 and "became involved in a sexual relationship involving bondage, discipline, sadism, and masochism," according to the federal indictment, filed May 9. Shortly after, Jones moved into Blaes' home in the 8600 block of Wendell Ave. in Parkville.

A Parkville man is scheduled to be sentenced this week on charges of transporting a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct, and the woman he lived with has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to produce child pornography in a case that prosecutors said involved confining a minor in their home. John Andrew Blaes, 49, of Parkville, previously pleaded guilty to the conspiracy and to transporting a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 19. Meanwhile, the plea of Margaret Ellen Jones, 37, of Parkville, was announced this month by U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein, with FBI, Homeland Security officials and Baltimore County Police Chief James Johnson.

An 82-year old man died in a house fire yesterday afternoon in Parkville, fire officials said. The fire in the 8700 block of Oakleigh Road was reported about 4 p.m., said Elise Armacost, a county Fire Department spokeswoman. A woman who had been in the home was able to escape the fire, Armacost said. But the woman was unable to help William Wallace Brown Jr., who apparently had mobility problems, Armacost said. Brown was dead when firefighters arrived, six minutes after the call came in, Armacost said.

With Centennial no longer lumped in its region, the Parkville boys expected to win the team title at yesterday's Class 3A East regional championships.And they did.Parkville's girls, on the other hand, did not expect to leave the Fifth Regiment Armory yesterday gripping a regional championship plaque, but they were.Senior Joe Smith helped make the sweep possible by winning the 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs. Parkville's boys captured their second consecutive region crown in a decisive fashion, outscoring runner-up Woodlawn, 157-78.

A woman killed Nov. 23 in a fiery crash on the Northern Parkway bridge above Perring Parkway was identified yesterday by city police as a 19-year-old Parkville resident. The victim, Ashley Thompson of the 2500 block of Perring Woods Road, was driving a 1995 BMW east on Northern Parkway when it crashed into a westbound 1991 Ford Tempo and burst into flames. Dental records were used to identify Thompson, who was trapped in the burning car and died at the scene, police said. The driver of the Tempo, Kenneth Fowlkes, 42, of the 1700 block of Waverly Way, was released yesterday from Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
