Members of the Parkton American Legion Post 256 and the Legion Auxiliary have been busy cooking and serving meals to veterans. Auxiliary president Jean Brown said auxiliary members served 140 turkey dinners at the Parkton post to military men and women on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. On Dec. 4, post member Bill Altvater and 14 volunteers from both the legion and auxiliary took lunch to the Veterans Administration Medical Center on Loch Raven Boulevard....

Parkton York Road , 17300 block, between 7:15 a.m. and 7:35 a.m. Nov. 29. Two Hereford High School students were outside when male tried to kiss female, then fondled her. Stablers Church Road , 800 block, between 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 11. Woman accepted a ride from a man in Silver Spring, Md. She fell asleep and woke up to find him massaging her leg. When she told him to stop, he said he was taking her to his house.

Parkton Masemore Road , 17200 block, between 10:30 p.m. Oct. 13 and 5 a.m. Oct. 14. Cell phone, Leatherman tool, gift cards and money stolen from three unlocked vehicles in driveway. Masemore Road , 17300 block, between 12:01 a.m. and 6:15 a.m. Oct. 14. Minivan stolen from Baltimore City driven to house, where contents of vehicle were dumped out. Then dirt bike and four-wheeler stolen from unlocked garage and loaded into minivan before fleeing.

Pearce Road , 16600 block, between 7:55 a.m. and 7 p.m. Oct. 7. Generator, chainsaw, weed-eater, pressure washer, hand tools, computer and boots stolen from garage.

Two Baltimore County men were killed and three other people injured Sunday in an early-morning crash of an all-terrain vehicle in White Hall, Baltimore County police said. Police said officers were called at about 4:30 a.m. to the 18000 block of Vernon Road, where they found a Polaris Ranger ATV containing four men and one woman that had been driven off the edge of a cliff and into a stream below. Stephen David Tracey, 30, of the Hampstead and Jeffry Lawrence Griffin, 29, of Parkton died at the scene.

Can you please report on the number of millionaires in Congress, both senators and representatives? For those in Congress who are millionaires it seems to me they have a vested interest in not raising taxes on themselves, while we other "non-millionaire" citizens do the heavy lifting in terms of paying our taxes. Eva and Milton Hartig of Parkton hosted a picnic for The Greater Baltimore Model A Ford Club at their home on Aug. 20. About 25 antique cars were on display and the group was entertained by the Calliope Barber Shop Quartet.

Army Pvt. Michael P. Carney graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Carney is the son of Joe Volpini of Glen Arm, and Kathryn Volpini-Holland of Strasburg, Va. Carney graduated in 2004 from Loch Raven High School. Navy Seaman Apprentice Joshua J. Powers , grandson of Karen and Bob Almony of White Hall recently graduated from Operations Specialist School with honors. Powers is a 2009 graduate of Hereford High School of Parkton and joined the Navy in March 2011.

Adam Tsao of Sparks , was named to the dean's List for the spring 2011 semester at Washington University in St. Louis. Tsao is a graduate of Dulaney High School in Timonium and is enrolled in the university's College of Arts and Sciences. Elizabethtown (Pa.) College announced the list of students to be included on the spring 2011 dean's list. Christina Hoban , a sophomore health and occupation major from Jarrettsville. Ashley Kufera , a junior English professional writing major from Jarrettsville.
