I'm going to blame Debbie. For the moment I am not going to take any responsibility for my bumper kissing the one on the car in front of me because i was so focused with Debbie on my mind. I hadn't seen Debbie in, what, 10? 12? years, and at one time we were the best of friends. Yeah, yeah, I've gotten those email spams that tell me that there are different types of friendships: deep, emotional ones, utilitarian ones, ones based on pleasure, seasonal ones, lifelong ones. But for as long as we knew each other, our friendship was bottomless.

This year marks Charles Ostrander's fifth Black Friday with Best Buy. The 31-year-old Essex resident currently works at the store's branch in White Marsh as a Mobile Manager. On Friday, he will be working a 14-hour day consisting of two 7-hour shifts with a couple hours of break in between. But according to Ostrander, the excitement of the day is so intense that the time goes by quickly. “I have always called it the 'Super Bowl of Retail' because it's 'go time,'” he explains. “This is where retail's best establishments go all-out for their customers and is kind of the kickoff for the holiday shopping season.” But what about the madness and horror stories we always hear about Black Friday shopping?

I was going to write something about how nobody in Lutherville seems to walk on the brand new York Road sidewalk that runs from the Beltway to Ridgely Road, but something happened last Monday night, Oct. 3, that seems to illustrate the point. I was having dinner with my family in Orchard Hills, wondering why there was a helicopter was circling the neighborhood with the spotlight on - you see this every so often in the Towson area, but it seemed close. By about 7:30 p.m., they seemed to be looking elsewhere.
