A 7-Eleven store in Cape St. Claire was sprayed with bullets Saturday, county police said yesterday. One of the bullets struck a wall where two men were standing, and another hit a parked car that was occupied, but no one was injured.Police said a small, dark-colored car passed by the store in the 700 block of College Parkway shortly after 12: 30 a.m. and fired several shots.Police recovered seven spent rounds from the road in front of the store.Pub Date: 9/04/96

A 5-year-old girl was in critical condition at Johns Hopkins Children's Center yesterday after being struck by a car, county police said.The girl, who was not identified by police, was walking in the 1300 block of Oakwood Road shortly before 7: 30 p.m. Tuesday when she ran from behind a parked car into the road and was struck by a northbound 1983 Volkswagen driven by Herman Clifton McClain III, 23, of Glen Burnie, police said. McClain tried to avoid the child but could not, police said. The girl was thrown 20 feet.

A 14-year-old Westminster girl was arrested Sunday after she took her parents' auto without permission, drove around the 140 Village Shopping Center, hit a parked car and fled on foot, police said.The girl, who lives on Washington Road, was charged with driving without a license, negligent driving and failure to remain at a property damage accident. She was released to her grandmother, police said.Officers said the juvenile, whom they did not identify, was driving through the shopping center and chasing another juvenile, who was running, when the vehicle she was driving struck the parked auto.

An unoccupied Towson State University shuttle bus rolled backward down a hill yesterday, sped through a busy intersection during rush hour and crashed into three parked cars, demolishing two of them, Baltimore County police said. No one was injured."What was really unique about the accident was that this bus, at the peak rush hour time in Towson, rolled through the intersection without running into any other cars," said Officer Patrick M. Rooney, who investigated. "It must have had a green light."

Driver crashes into car in Pasadena, diesPASADENA -- A 27-year-old Pasadena man died early yesterday morning when the car he was driving crashed head-on into a parked car, county police said.Officer Norval Cooper, of the traffic safety section, said Joseph William Ballman, of the 8300 block of Dock Road, was driving a 1987 Chevrolet Camaro southbound in the 200 block of Hickory Point Road near Theis Drive shortly before 2 a.m. when he crossed the center line and crashed into a 1986 Chrysler New Yorker parked in front of a house on the opposite side of the road.

A horse being ridden by a police officer was killed yesterday when the animal struck a car parked on an East Baltimore street as the officer tried to join a nearby foot chase.The officer, who was riding the 14-year-old American quarter horse called Bozman, was thrown from his mount and tumbled over the four-door Toyota Lexus, but he was not seriously injured.The accident scene in the 1000 block of N. Patterson Park Ave., near East Chase Street, drew dozens of officers and commanders, including at least five other officers in the mounted unit.

Several hundred people were milling on the streets outside Lexington Market in the pre-dawn darkness yesterday when a gunman opened fire on a parked car, killing the driver and slightly injuring the passenger, Baltimore police reported.Michael Brown, 22, of the 4100 block of Groveland Ave. was pronounced dead on the scene. His companion, Charles Wheeler, 23, of the 3700 block of Ferndale Ave. suffered an arm wound. He was listed in good condition yesterday at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
