HAVANA -- Canada's and Mexico's baseball coaches were hospitalized yesterday after their players engaged in a brawl involving charges of racial insults during a qualifying game at the Pan American Games.Canadian first-base coach John Upham, 49, who played for the Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies in the 1960s, was in hospital with angina, and Mexican coach Antonio Pollorena needed four stitches to close a cut over his left eye.Mexican officials said the fight, which lasted several minutes and forced U.S. umpire Dan Pedersen from San Diego to suspend the game with Mexico leading, 7-5, in the top of the sixth inning, was caused by racial comments against them.
