Viewers looking for a poor substitute may watch the repeat of "Walker, Texas Ranger" at 10 p.m. instead."The Nanny" (8 p.m.-8: 30 p.m.) and "Temporarily Yours" (8: 30 p.m.-9 p.m., WJZ, Channel 13) -- Earthy, wise-cracking New York gals show us all how it's done, and thank goodness for that. First, The Woman With the Most Irritating Voice in the World is jealous of her high school rival, who's been cast in Maxwell's new play.

WILLIAM J. TUTTLE, 95 Movie makeup artist Movie makeup artist William J. Tuttle, who created the shaggy Morlocks of The Time Machine, the monster's mug for Young Frankenstein and turned Tony Randall into a circus full of legends for 7 Faces of Dr. Lao, died July 30 of complications related to old age at his home in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Mr. Tuttle influenced generations of makeup artists and worked on hundreds of movies from the 1930s until his final film, Zorro, the Gay Blade, in 1981.

LOS ANGELES -- A shadow looms behind the tranquillity o the Riviera Country Club, the historic golf course that sprawls across a verdant bluff overlooking the ocean in Pacific Palisades: The club's Japanese owners are suspected of laundering money tainted by corruption back home.U.S. investigators say they are looking into connections between the owners -- who bought the Riviera for $108 million four years ago -- and Japan's most notorious political power broker, Shin Kanemaru, who stands accused of graft, tax evasion and financial links to Japanese organized crime.

Eugene P. "Bucky" Waters, a retired Bethlehem Steel Corp. superintendent who worked at Sparrows Point for 40 years, died of heart and lung failure at Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care. He was 82. The 42-year Towson resident was born and raised in Germantown in Montgomery County. After graduating from Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville in 1937, he earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Johns Hopkins University in 1941. That year, he began his career at Bethlehem Steel in the management training program.
