Unfortunately, there's no "EZ Streets" tonight, as CBS has deep-sixed the critically praised but ratings-panned series (it ranked 110th out of 151 series). Viewers looking for a poor substitute may watch the repeat of "Walker, Texas Ranger" at 10 p.m. instead."The Nanny" (8 p.m.-8: 30 p.m.) and "Temporarily Yours" (8: 30 p.m.-9 p.m., WJZ, Channel 13) -- Earthy, wise-cracking New York gals show us all how it's done, and thank goodness for that. First, The Woman With the Most Irritating Voice in the World is jealous of her high school rival, who's been cast in Maxwell's new play.

WILLIAM J. TUTTLE, 95 Movie makeup artist Movie makeup artist William J. Tuttle, who created the shaggy Morlocks of The Time Machine, the monster's mug for Young Frankenstein and turned Tony Randall into a circus full of legends for 7 Faces of Dr. Lao, died July 30 of complications related to old age at his home in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Mr. Tuttle influenced generations of makeup artists and worked on hundreds of movies from the 1930s until his final film, Zorro, the Gay Blade, in 1981.

It may be No. 68 in the Nielsen ratings, but "Homicide: Life on the Street" is No. 1 in the hearts of 54 TV critics recently polled on the best and worst prime-time shows.NBC's Baltimore-based drama topped the list in the latest semiannual survey conducted by the trade magazine Electronic Media. Fox's "Pauly" was rated the worst.Unfortunately, "Homicide" still can't get arrested on Friday nights, trailing in its time slot in the season-long Nielsens behind ABC's "20/20" (No. 12) and CBS' "Nash Bridges" (No. 64)

Sally Bell knows a thing or two about children. In 1964, she succeeded her mother, Nancy Claster, who as "Miss Nancy" had been the original host of Romper Room, the WBAL-TV show that went on the air in Baltimore in 1953 and subsequently entertained generations of preschoolers. Bell, who left the show in 1980, worked until 2000 in a variety of positions with Claster Television Inc., the family-owned business that created Romper Room. Today, Bell, 64, who lives in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
