Ozzie Guillen is no stranger to controversy, and Bryce Harper has made some headlines of his own in a three-month-old career, though he tried to lay low in his battle with the Marlins manager this weekend. On Sunday, Guillen accused the Washington Nationals outfielder of using too much pine-tar on his bat. So to apologize and make amends, Harper sent Guillen an autographed bat. The catch is, he just signed the bat and had no idea who it was intended for . It's common for players to get autographs for each other.

A team where he wins Dylan Hernandez Los Angeles Times The Cuban national team? In all seriousness, I don't even know how to answer this question. Only three teams are looking for a manager and one of them is the team that fired Guillen. It's impossible to correctly guess which managers will be fired in the next two to five years, which, no doubt, is necessary to create a right fit for Guillen. I suppose what this question is really asking is, "What market would be most tolerant of Guillen's antics?"

In the dugout: Pinch hitter John Kruk was ejected for arguing with plate umpire Brian Onura in the ninth inning over a called strike. Kruk charged out of the dugout after his ejection and had to be restrained by manager Terry Bevington. Ozzie Guillen, the next batter, continued to jaw with Onura, but remained in the game, striking out.On the field: Chicago leadoff hitter Lance Johnson accounted for nearly half of the White Sox's nine hits last night, going 4-for-5 with two RBIs and a home run in the sixth off Mike Mussina.

By now, you've heard the news: The Miami Marlins on Tuesday suspended Ozzie Guillen for five games for telling Time magazine he loves and respects Cuban dictator Fidel Castro. I wrote earlier that while I find Guillen's remarks stupid and insensitive -- and completely understand why many people were offended by them -- I thought it was wrong to punish him for them. The Marlins decided to suspend Guillen anyway, and trying to appease the outrage felt by much of the Cuban-American portion of the team's fan base certainly had something to do with that.

Where the next curse is Dom Amore Hartford Courant The Cubs are bedeviled by the most hideous curse in sports, so what do they need? A manager who has proven he can break such things. There are only two out there who have proven then can win with organizations that haven't in 80 years or more — and the Cubs let Ozzie Guillen slip out of town. Terry Francona, like most fired managers, will land in a place where he represents the opposite approach to his predecessors.

I'm not a big fan of mood-altering drugs, but somebody in the Chicago White Sox organization should do something for Ozzie Guillen. Guillen's hair-trigger temper has already gotten him in hot water (see Jay Mariotti and gay slurs), but he just can't seem to keep himself under control. On Sunday, an innocuous, joking question about a minor leaguer sent him over the edge. While the White Sox have been struggling after a hot start, they're still very much in the hunt in the mediocre American League Central, but the root of Guillen's seething seems to be popularity envy over the Cubs.

HOUSTON -- Chicago White Sox general manager Ken Williams walked into the center of the visiting locker room at Minute Maid Park last night carrying the World Series trophy high above his head. Williams could have savored a private moment with a piece of hardware that hadn't been held by Windy City hands since 1917. A former White Sox player, Williams was the one who brought together this team of no-names and castoffs that won, 1-0, last night to sweep the Houston Astros in the 2005 World Series.
